In TSS, Lemony mentions that the Vertical Flame Diversion's pole was taken away to help build a submarine. Now, what I was thinking: Was the submarine mentioned the one that was mentioned in TSS letter. And if it was, the submarine would have to be big because if the trip climbing the V.F.D. took hours, the the pole must be long!

I wonder who is this Quisling. I mean, is he really important, or is he just a charactor from some piece of literature?

I wonder who is this Quisling. I mean, is he really important, or is he just a charactor from some piece of literature? Quisling was an actual historical figure; I'm not sure when he lived. All I know was that he was a sleazy traitor who betrayed his country during a war. His name, like Benedict Arnold, is a colloquialism for traitors. Isn't Quisling just the coolest name?

Just because Lemony mentioned those names in his list of "people like Olaf" doesn't mean they will show up in the series, but we can't rule out the possiblity. I found this helpful article about the original Quisling on a Google search. Apparently Quisling is also the name of a band.

Sorry to disappoint, but both Quisling and Gorgon will not be future characters in the series, I am almost sure. Their names are simply included in the list as insults. You can call someone a Quisling just as you would call them a villain. It's just not that common.

Anyway, I noticed the pipe in TSS too. I'm not thinking about that, I'm thinking, the pole was taken away, and Lemony says he's always following the Baudelaire's tracks, a phrase which here means (sorry I couldn't help it!) is a few steps behind them. Well, if he knew it was gone to build a submarine, then it must have been made a while ago, in other words, could break down soon...
