On Barnes&Noble's "Meet the Writers", Snicket says he has roots in a place that is currently underwater. Of course, this is the same place that the submarine is. Maybe, it's Lemony's submarine . I doubt that it is, but hey, it's possible. I think that Lemony goes back to his home, only to discover it's covered in water! (Kinda like the movie "In Dreams") He then meets the Baudelaires and in Book 12, watches his love, Beatrice, be brutally murdered by Olaf! It's perfect! Dubious and unlikely, but perfect!

That is an interesting thought. I think that maybe Lemony doesn't have a home any more because it got burned down in the Snicket Fire. So only it's ashes could be underwater.

More on this general submerged subject: Remember how Jacques wrote his letter to Lemony while under 60 feet of water? I think that Jacques was in the rattletrap submarine, in the deeply submerged ancestral home of the Snicket Clan, which is in the vicinity of the Gorgonian Grotto. Keep in mind that Lemony's family has roots in a place that is now underwater, meaning that his ancestors came from there, not necessarily that Lemony was born there.

It says on the website that Lemony lived in the relative splendor and comfort of the Snicket Villa which has since become a factory, a fortress and a pharmacy and is now, alas, someone else's villa. So the Snicket Villa could not have been burnt down.

I heard somewhere that lemony had a tiny one-room apartment but I guess that's wrong. Lemony's home is wherever his reseach takes him. Wonder how he gets food and stuff. He must've inherited the snicket fortune.

I doubt he inhertited the fortune.. and Beatrice was dead before the first book... so how does that work?
