Now Lemony Snicket said himself that there is a distressing message from a lost friend in "The Grim Grotto". I am so excited to find out who its from. And i wanted to know what you think and if there is a reason... why? SO WHO DO YOU THINK THE "DISTRESSING MESSAGE" IS FROM?

I strongly believe that Duncan and/or Isadora will send the message.
But then again, they're my joint favourite characters.
So really, I justwant them to send the message, so I can know that Snicket's plot still involves them, however minorly.

Probably Duncan/Isadora, so I voted for them. They haven't been seen for such a long time...
But then Quigley is truly lost... But how would he get a message to them.
Idea! Hector could have, at some point between (inclusive) THH and TSS, given a message, joint from himself, Duncan and Isadora, to the volunteers on the submarine, which they were to give to the Baudelaires if they met them! It makes perfect sense! Who's to say Hector didn't reach the Valley of Four Drafts before the Man With A Beard But No Hair and the Woman With Hair But No Beard? He could have done it then!

Everyone thinks it's the Quags but ... what about Phil, Charles, the incredibly deadly viper, or Jerome? It could be any one of them. :/
EDIT: Never let me post when I've only had a few hours of sleep, kthnx. -_-

Then all you have to do is vote "Other"... But, good point.

*points out flaws of others to help own poor self-esteem* Incredibly Deadly Viper.
And I suppose that Jerome does have some things to say, regarding his friendship with Jacques, and the Baudelaire mother before she was married.

I'm waiting to hear back from Justice Strauss. I believe that the orphans will eventually end up with her. She does have the initials JS.
Either that, or I think Ike (Josephine's husband) is still alive. The man on the diving suits reminds me of him.

I think the message will be from Quigley, who is probably nearing Hotel Denoument while the Baudelaires drift out to sea--just their luck. This letter will probably contain VFD clues as well as a Violet/Quigley romantic undertone.

Quigley isn't REALLY lost..he knows that the Stricken Stream leads to somewhere safe....but, HOW WOULD he get a message to them? That's the question! I'm still not sure who it would be from, but the question is, how would Duncan and Isadora or Hector get a message down to the Bauds when they're up, stuck in the air forever? So I picked other.

And if it was the Baudelaire parents...well, they wouldn't just be their FRIENDS...but it IS a possibility.

I imagine that carrier crows would be involved in both of those situations, whichever one is actually the case. Assuming that one of them is.
