Just a side note . . . In TGG, Volatile Fungus Deportation is discussed and is said to be a project that the good side of VFD completed involving the meduloid mycelium. Regarding the name of the project: volatility is a substance's ability to evaporate quickly. Would the mushrooms disappear if need be? Sorry if this has already been discussed but please share thy thoughts . . .

The way Lemony Snicket seems to use the word "volatile" is to mean dangerous. For example TGG p. 162-163:
"I think [Gregor] was volatile," Fiona said. "like the Medusoid Mycelium. And the writer letter says that if you cultivate something volatile, then you're playing with fire."

TGG p. 160: "'Volatile' means 'unstable' or 'likely to cause trouble,'" Klaus said." So there's what they meant.
