As well as herpatologists I think that Gustav (I'm thinking he is actually Dr. Gustav Sebald) and Montgomory Montgomory were members of the VFD...
I'm thinking this becuz in TUA there is a piece of Sebald Code and it says:
"Hidden in the snowman there is a survivor of the fire, meet us in the town where this film takes place, bring the three children. Your new assistant is not one of us. Beware."
Olaf killed Gustav, so Gustav knows that Stephano is not a herpotoligist. And remember, Monty went to the pictures to see Zombies in the Snow with the children. So, that may be when Monty started to suspect Stephano.
I'm thinking Mr. Poe is a VFD member too. Because if you are all thinking Aunt Josephine is and Nero...then perhaps there is a VFD member in every book. The Baudelaire parents do not want the kids to be taken to a reletive's house. They want to go to a VFD MEMBERS house. That is why Mr. Poe takes the kids to Olaf, then Monty, Josephine, the guy at the lumber mill (can't think of the name), Nero, VFD (If the guy with the self-suspending thing is a member) ... I hope u see what I'm seeing.
And in book 3, when A. Jo left the kids to C. Sham, Poe could obviously see it was Olaf so he had no objections, because he is a member of VFD...
Thank you, and goodnight!

Hmmm.... interesting thought. Why, though, if they're all in V.F.D., aren't they at that meeting in the UA? Also, how do you know Hector is a member?

hmm...I'm not sure. Somebody on here said that somebody mentioned a self-sustaining machine in one of the meetings in TUA however I have read through that so I'm not sure....

I think it says something in one of Jacques (?) letter's about that self-sustaining mobile home that "H" is always trying to build, but I don't think that necessarily means he's a V.F.D.er. I think they just refer to everyone, V.F.D. or not, by their first initials... still, I have no real proof that he isn't a member, either.

Good points on most of it, but I'm confused on one part. maybe I misread, but...
"I'm thinking this becuz in TUA there is a piece of Sebald Code and it says:
"Hidden in the snowman there is a survivor of the fire, meet us in the town where this film takes place, bring the three children. Your new assistant is not one of us. Beware."

Alright, so you are saying that Gustav Seabald is the same as Gustav, Monty's assistant. Which makes perfect sense, execpt-If Olaf killed him, how would he make a movie?
Or am I misunderstanding something?
Also, if he WERE Monty's assistant, why would he incode the message in the script. It says in LSUA, (I think) that Monty's didn't know the Sebald code and had his assistant do it. So, why would a Dead Man send a coded message to Monty about his assistant being fake if his ASSISTANT was the only one who could read it?
Please respond back quickly! Explain! Please!
