Quigley Down Under is a movie. It has Alan Rickman in it (of course that's the reason I know of and own it).

Also, on the same website under Melodramas I found this. www.pioneerdrama.com/catalog/dogbreath_md.html"Dogsbreath Devereaux -- The Dastardly Doctor Dogsbreath Devereaux, M.D., plots to wed and do away with the wealthy widow Lotta Cash so he can inherit her fortune and her late husband's clinic. He enlists the aid of the nasty nurse, Hilda Hatchet..." Sound familiar. And look at all the illiteration. And count olaf always has really bad breathe. Maybe a coincedence, but I think not.

Oh, my god.... Look at this...Right under the Dogbreathe one is this. www.pioneerdrama.com/catalog/doubletake_md.html"Double Take at Beatrice's Boardin' House - Beatrice's Boarding House is in the fair-to-middlin' town of Goodale. Beatrice, the young, beautiful (but somewhat longwinded) owner is in distress... " It definitely is not a coincedence.

All of these Pioneer Dramas share a central theme.
One trying to scheme another of their inheritance.
DH must be a fan.

Ok, now I am really starting to wonder. www.pioneerdrama.com/catalog/savedbycircus_md.html"Saved by the Serendipity Circus or... She Was Trapped With Ease Kindhearted Miss Priscilla Purity, owner of a wee orphanage, has become entangled within the wrongdoings of a weasel. The seemingly honest, yet evil Victor Vornado has created a trade much in his favor. In exchange for Miss PurityĆs overcrowded home, which is a kind residence for orphans, he will give her a huge house with a large lot, also ideal for Miss SerendipityĆs ragtag circus. But the truth comes out when two mismatched twins run away to see the circus and discover that, not only is there no abode for Priscilla and the orphans, but also the land she has traded for has a layer of black gunk (IE QUAQMIRE) on it. With a delightful cast, simple set and hilarious romp, this is a melodrama that literally clowns around!"

This needs it's own thread. Go here and you will see all the titles, which read like SOUE titles. I think this might actually be DH's personal website. Cause too many of these read like his books. Oh, and besides stealing family fortune. They also have lots of twins, and orphans in them. And remember in TUAB, they VFD are actors...and Count Olaf was a playwright, who wrote plays like these. www.pioneerdrama.com/headings/melodramas.htmlHere are some more interesting ones: The Vile Veterinarian - "Though they are about to lose their home and business, they don't have the heart to turn away the cats, cows, dogs, pigs and snakes that the handsome animal rights advocate, Hugh Kandoit, brings them... Just when it seems Polly and Kay will be forced into the streets, the devious duo, Ray Beeze and Kitty Litter, arrive in town, posing as a veterinarian and his assistant. They really just want the gold they know is hidden in the caves surrounding the Nein to Five, and they plot to strike it rich with an evil scheme! ...It's one joke after another as Ray battles Hugh, who's used to handling snakes. " www.pioneerdrama.com/catalog/vile_md.htmlAdrift in New York - A Musical Melodrama - From the classic story by Horatio Alger - "The youngster has been kidnapped by the villainous Curtis Waring, John Linden's nephew, who hopes to inherit the family fortune. The youngster, now grown, lives a precarious life on the streets of New York. When Linden's lovely ward, Florence, rejects the unwanted attentions of Waring, she is disinherited, forced to live in a tenement and work in a sweatshop... until it is discovered that the young man who befriends her is, in reality, Linden's long lost son. In true Horatio Alger (and melodrama) style, the young couple is reunited, "Uncle John" finds his true son, and Waring pays for his evil deeds." Those Wedding Bells Shall Not Ring Out-"Snicklefritz decides to force our heroine to be his bride in order to get the nugget. Watching the dirty work is a howl. The complications are non-stop. Wait until you see the wedding scene!" The Vile Veterinarian - "Though they are about to lose their home and business, they don't have the heart to turn away the cats, cows, dogs, pigs and snakes that the handsome animal rights advocate, Hugh Kandoit, brings them...
