The Members of the VFD

I've thought quite hard about this and so, this is my list of who I think are the VFD members in accordance with the minutes given in TUA.

And of course, these are the ones in attendance so not everyone may be here.

J - Josephine Anwhistle (I think that is her surname.)

I'm quite sure it is her because at the end when it talks about the Ivan L book, it says under someones bed. So the someone, must be present at the meeting.

L - Lemony Snicket

Of course it says: "That's not what M meant, L. "At Hand" is a phrase which here means..." So, maybe LS went and brushed up on his skills.

M - Dr. Montgomory Montgomory

This theory is placed in the "Gustav, Monty + Mr. Poe -- Members of the VFD?" thread.

S - Sir

Nobody can pronounce his name, so perhaps. If my theory about Mr. Poe is correct, and he is putting the Baudelaires in a VFD's member's (eek, Aunt Jo won't be very happy with me) care. Then perhaps this man IS a member.

I - Count Olaf, Beatrice, One of the Baudelaire/Quagmire's parents, Jacques Snicket, Jerome Squalor, Esmé Squalor.

I'm not sure about this one. Because "I" is a pronoun which is very convienient for LS when writing And of course the date in "April" at the beginning is scribbled out. So, for all we know it could be. However, the other letters, R,R,M,L,K, and D, could be the ones mentioned above, because apart from Beatrice, Esmé, Jaques and Jerome, we don't know what their first names are!

Who do you think that the remaining letters are?

I don't think for a moment that Beatrice is in VFD. That's probally why she left Lemony. O is Olaf and E is Esme. Look at the end of the VFD Meeting in LSUA. I wouldn't think Sir has any part in it because Sir isn't his real name (and remember, members wouldn't have to know his full name- just the first letter!) Jaques is in their somewhere (otherwise, why would Lemony?), so I think Jaques is J. One of the R's is the Duchess of Winnipegg (she signs with an R at the end of her letter). Also, the Quagmires and the Bauderlire's have to be in there some where...

A H is mentioned elsewhere in LSUA, so that's Hector (Jaques mentions H making a flying house).

But there isn't an O or an E...or are u just saying that they weren't present at the meeting? Do u think that that meeting took place while the Bauds were staying at 667DA??

edit: I've just had a thought...Perhaps they all change their letters around...cuz in the letter it says - "I will just call him O, though he currently prefers S" - so perhaps members arn't as they seem.

Also, is Olaf is first or last name?

Also, I'm not so sure if Josephine was in the VFD. It's possible, but more than likely Ike (or if he's not in the VFD, someone else) or someone else asked her to put it under her bed and never take it out.

Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention DH. It's pretty obvious he's in there (p. 35, LSUA). ANd with the evidence that he's there comes even more evidence that Ls is there.

Olaf and esme? well, of course they used to be in there before the schism. Who else would O and E be who aren't welcome anymore at the meetings? And O seems to enjoy having many names (p. 45, LSUA, O says he'd like to be known as T. Later on he mentions wanting to be called S).

As for the "Is olaf his first or second name" debate...well, I'm going with first. I admit, most of the time, it's the surname used. But a lot of the time, people take off the "count" and just call him olaf. Of course, it is somewhat common to call people by their last names, but Olaf is more of a first name, you know?

I have many questions. The first being, do Klaus, Violet, and Sunny exist and are their stories real? Second, what is LSUA?
In regard to previous conversation, I think Olaf is his first name, because in the Carnivorus Carnival, they refer to him as Olaf- or "My Olaf" please answer soon and tell me where to look- i am kind of new here.

I don't think that Klaus, Violet and Sunny are real. LSUA stands for Lemony Snicket Unauthorized Autobiography. I think that Olaf is his first name too because I've met someone named that before. Welcome to the board!
