Mid-fifties by now? Not DH, the character Lemony Snicket. I always thought of him as being older.

There's really no way of telling because the books seem to take place out of time. I've always imagined him to be a man in his mid-thirties, who kind of looks like those 1940's and 1950's journalists.

hmm...well he was born before me, and is likely to die before I do...therefore we can safely determine he is is both older than myself and Mr. Handler (both of whom share relatively the same age)

That's how old Daniel Handler is... I wonder how old Lemony is... Probabley around 40.

Lemony isn't Daniel. Check the VFD transcript in LSTUA where D and L are two different people.

I would imagine that Lemony Snicket is dead now. As in no longer living. When ever he reffers to his research of the orphans he always speaks about it in past tense; way past tense.
Also, his pictures that I have seen appear to look as if they were knot taken recently, ergo they were taken a long while ago.
Thus I come to the conclusion that he is either dead, or somewhat near death, because of the times in which the book series takes place.
Do I have a second?

I agree that he writes about the events in the series as though they're long past (like in TAA), but I believe that he publishes them as he writes them. That's why he put a note to his sister in TSS. I think he's still alive, but he may be fairly old now. After all, there's the time it took until he fell in love with Beatrice, the fifteen years he had to stay away from her, and then (if she's the Baud's mom) the years after her death where he does his research and publishses the books. He's got to be at least 35 and probably older.

Also, his pictures that I have seen appear to look as if they were knot taken recently, ergo they were taken a long while ago. I love it! It's so true... and yet so... hilarious! Okay, but seriously, weren't Lemony and DH and Jacques (and all those other adult VFDers, for that matter) all at that meeting and all pretty close in age? I always pictured him being (sorry swans) just slightly older than 33. Jacques was still alive in TVV, and not particularly old. Since Lemony and he are close in age, Lemony's probably not old or dead... yet.

But TVV had to have happened years before Lemony wrote about it, just like TAA.

Remember that there were two L's at that meeting, Swans. Maybe Lemony is the elder of the two.

WHOA! Lemony is aMADE UP character. A MADE UP character. Daniel is Lemony. Lemony is Daniel. I assume the CHARACTER of Lemony is in mid thirties or forties; and I think Daniel is somewhere between 32 and 35
