ya, lots of families of three. i think theres a board, or maybe it was the unofficial lemony snicket faq, but there was someone who tried, fairly successfully, to piece together all the characters into families of three. it seemed like it worked.

also, many say the man with a beard and no hair, and the woman with hair and no beard are olaf's siblings. Which kinda explains why they trusted him with the file, and why Olaf would actually be afraid of them. He's olaf. He isn't afraid of many people.

another possibility (seems less likely) is that mr. poe, mrs. poe, and esme are siblings.
