OK, so does it actually say that Beatrice died in any of the books. I remember Lemony saying he missed her, but does anyone have a quote from the book that actually says she was dead? Because idf shes not dead, then i have a theory, when V.F.D had the schism, Lemony was on the good side, but Beatrice wss on the evil side and this has caused Lemony great distress.

;D Thats is my exact theory. I also think that Beatrice was on the bad side and Lemony was on the good. But know one believes me.

I think Lemony and Beatrice were both on the good side, but something happened that caused her to believe Lemony was on the bad side. Or something like that.

yeah i'm pretty sure she is, or at least lemony snicket thinks she is, because of the things that are in the front of each book. examples: "for beatrice-our love broke my heart, and stopped yours."-carnivorous carnival "for beatrice-when we were together i felt breathless. now, you are."-vile village "for beatrice-when we met, my life began. soon afterward, yours ended."-erstaz elevator "for beatrice-you will always be in my heart, in my mind, and in your grave."-austere academy
there are more of those, as well as various things throughout the books, but i let people the first half of my collection so i can't get the rest of the little comments at the beginning, and i'm too lazy to look through the books for other things haha

It never really, exactly says "Beatrice is dead..."
But how else can she be in her grave, not breathing, and cold...

I have a theory...
Lemony and Beatrice were both on the good side. But she thought that Lemony was tricking her into believing that Count Olaf was bad and that Lemony was the real bad person. So, she went to Count Olaf's side and he killed her.

Olaf is so unpleasent it's hard to believe anyone trusting him- even naive guardians. Beatrice, on the other hand, had a full detectives training and should be able to smell a rat when she sees one.

Well, now that we've established that she really is dead...
How exactly did she die?

Most probably fire of course. Olaf does admit to arson in TWW so he could've burned Beatrice and the Baudelaires and the Quagmires. Does anyone here think Beatrice is the Baude's mum here?

Beatrice wasn't in VFD. News of the Schism and the bad VFD burning down houses broke out into the papers. Therefore, Beatrice must of thought Lemony was with Olaf and therefore left him before he could explain.

Was she in VFD? She seemed to be associated with them somehow, as she was at the duchess' masked ball, and making peanut sauce at VFD headquarters at one point (TSS) The books are written some time after the events actually take place, so I don't know if she's dead YET. But she will die at some point.

I read that when beatrice and lemony were going to get married she found out about his involvment in the schism or something and broke it off with him.
