Jaques is indeed dead it says so in the LSUA its says at least one of lemony's siblings is dead and in the new books he's been trying to contact his sister so unless he's really taken a dive off the deap end and is writing to a dead person its pretty clear that jaques is not a living person.

Well, remember that all evidence in the Autobiography may be misreported or just plain false. Lemony loves to play with our collective minds. However, if Jacques is really and sincerely dead, whoever put out the Verbal Fridge Dialogue didn't know it. Assuming that the message was indeed for him, but that's a different problem entirely.
The lack of funerals is certainly notable, but in most cases the characters' bodies would have been unretrievable for burial(read: converted to ashes, dust, or Leech Snack-Um's). What a fun discussion this is.
