We all know and love them from TSS but who exactly are they? Some say they are Olaf's siblings (doubtful), some random VFDers (possible) or someone we haven't met yet. However I reckoin that they're Mr Poe and Elanora Poe. It seems to fit as one is a man and one is a woman. The Bauldelaires do not recognise his voice because the rest of the time he is coughing (a voice fakery disguise?) Perhaps the reason he coughs is because of the cigarretes........ Yet even more evidence comes from TBB:TRE. He says that Mr Poe put his hat "back on his head." The book says that the line was originally "carefully back on his head. This implies he was hiding something at the time. Mr Poe and Elanora POe. VFDers or not? I do not mind if you wish to challenge any of my points as this is my very first post. Have fun!

I think they are in fact Olaf's siblings, M and N on the family tree. They're his older siblings, which explains why Olaf acts frightened around them. This would fit in with the three-siblings theme seen with Snicket's characters. If one was Mr. Poe, Sunny would have known him.

Yes, Sunny would have known him. It is very possible they are Olaf's siblings, or his parents, or just a higher ranking in V.F.D. I think they are either his siblings, or higher ranking in V.F.D. That explains why he was frightened of them.

I think they are definatly his siblings, and older too. You know, maybe they were orphans too and had the same type of ordeal as the Baudelaires but ended up on the bad side of the schism.

Ok, so until we have any other proof otherwise, they are UNoffically Olaf's older siblings...

I think they are Carmelitas Parents Because they never meet in the book so maybe she doesn't know they are there.

Mr. Poe never was in VFD, but he couldve possible been or is in cahoots with Olaf (according to LSUA). The Bauds have a gift that they can see Count Olaf if he was in disguise, or anyoe else, so I think they would know if it was Mr. Poe. I think its Gorgon and Quisling from TBBRE.

and Olaf says he will burn down her parents house I doubt they are Carmelita's parents. True she would have recognized but also if Olaf is afraid of them then why would he burn their house down? If he's as afraid of them as he acts he is, then why would he want to make them mad by burning their house down?
