Yes, sadly Olaf has gone from deperately marrying Violet and threatening to lob off Sunny's toe to giggling foreshadowings and throwing them in the brig. This doesn't explain his giggling and over all dramaticness, but maybe he's not threatening them as much cuz he's not in control anymore, well at least not of them. And before it seemed Count Olaf was the apex of evil, now it just seems like he's a giddy "evil" guy.
Like before he was a Sheer Khan from Jungle book type. He'd make fun of pain and he was scary to the jungle's inhabitance. Now he's more of a Doctor Drakken from Kim Possible type. You know, he's for evil but isn't as threatening as before, he's almost comedically evil, WHICH IS NOT COUNT OLAF!!!! Ag! Daniel Handler, buddy, we love you, but don't change your books just becuz Jim Carrey changed Olaf. Even though I am a Jim Carrey as Olaf supporter, he's not gonna be perfect at it I understand.
