I like it. I'm not the biggest fan of his constant alliteration laughter, but with his slightly cheerier attitude it gives me a more likeably evil image of him. What are your opinions?

I'm more saddened by the lack of quigley. I know we'll find out about him sooner or later, in greater detail that is. But I wanted him there nonetheless.

He was barely evil. I hated it.

He was barely evil. I hated it. Exactly. To me it seems like now...Olaf is becoming more like...Jim Carrey because of TGG, now Olaf seems...not as evil...more funny...and I do NOT like it. I miss the old sadistic Olaf....

Eurgh, The Whole Laughing Thing was Quite annoying to read. I'm Really Dissapointed about Olaf and Esme.. Just, Ugh. It does seem that He's getting to be More like Jim Carey.. I Don't like it.

^ I noticed that, too. I thought, as I read it, 'NO, Daniel! No!'
It's ANNOYING. It's ruining OLAF. It's a neat idea, but maybe for an EFFING NEW CHARACTER.
It made TGG a 7/10 instead of a 9/10.

So true, but another a reason I didn't like it was because the chracters didn't seems like they were as shallow as before. I liked it when their emotions weren't complex. Now we have romance, angry parents, and dysfunctional families. Le sigh. Maybe it's just me.

I found the entire thing rather ridiculous..I want an evil plot making nasty bad smelling count oalf and evil fashionable Esme....but all they did was laugh strangly...I hope that laughter was just "in" along with the new personalities...because I can't stand them. I want Count Oalf to remind me of evil nasty sinister things..not tickle me elmo.

Hmm.. Well, TGG is still the best to me, but Olaf wasn;t as sinister as he should've been. Same with Esme.

I thought Olaf was acting a little...under the influence, if you know what I mean.
Maybe he found a rare breed of mushroom.

Perhaps Olaf is not as cranky as Olaf is now getting some.
Seriously, I believe Handler's intentions were to give O' another facet to his act...and it fits with the rest of the book...Which is to make this more than a one note pony show. Consider the ending which could have turned into another house, another new guardian.

*Nods* I like how Lemony is adding ever more complexity(and just plain weirdness) to his books. Olaf seems to be going through a phase that may or may not be over in book 12, and although I found his laughter greatly entertaining he took it to excess. Ha ha hula dance, indeed. Exactly. To me it seems like now...Olaf is becoming more like...Jim Carrey because of TGG, now Olaf seems...not as evil...more funny...and I do NOT like it. I miss the old sadistic Olaf.... I think so too. Maybe this is an attempt for Snicket to connect the recent books to the movie more...or something. By the way, I love your name.

I do not like the laugh at all not in the spring or in the fall not on the web not on this board not on a plane with Gerald Ford
Yeah, that sums it up. Olaf does seem to be the sort who needs to get some on a regular basis. I want them to go back to being evil.
