Bears in the Mortmain Mountains? What have I forgotten? Bruce said something about bears tht were very intelligent and were trained as soldiers. However, I'm pretty sure Duncan said that there were no bears, at least no soldier bears, in the mountains. I also hope we get more coherent backstory inthe final two books.

That would be Quigley, and I'm pretty sure that Bruce can't be trusted - not because he's evil, but because he's stupid, just like Mr. Poe. And there probably were bears - I think Lemony mentioned something about ferocious animals returning to their caves, or some such stuff - but I think the animals that bear analysis are the Volunteer Feline Detectives, i.e. the mountain lions, which were trained to smell smoke from a long way away.

My mistake. Shall we list all mysteries then? -Beatrice -Beatrice/Lemony/Esme triangle (sugarbowl stolen) -sugarbowl -M and N -meaning of VFD -Hector and VFD -Ike and VFD -The ? beast -the fate of the androgyne -I can't think of any more

-the fate of the androgyne And also the gender of the androgyne, along with some background. Background also on the bald man with a long nose, and what happened at Lucky Smells which some dubious detectives alleged was an accident.

Not to mention the wart faced man, and Esme's last name that was smudged in that play review. Also, more on Justice Strauss.

So esme's last name has been concluded not to be Genevieve? Crap. And why do we need background on everyone of Olaf's associates?

Since when is your middle name your maiden name? Is that some kind of custom I am unaware of? And why shouldn't we know the backgrounds of the henchpeople?

We need background on Olaf's henchmen because we find them interesting - and the backgrounds presented so far have been even more interesting.

I really enjoyed TGG, a big reason for this is because we learned of Lucafont's past, and how he wasn't always evil and volatile. Very cool. He better not die.

Well, in the UA her name is blanked out, so I assume her last name wasn't Genvieve.

But isn't it (paraphrasing)
"Esmé (? - her last name was smudged in the program)"
Rather than:
"Esmé Gigi (? - her last name was smudged in the program)"
Or am I reading you wrong?

Well I assume there is a reason. Perhaps Lemony wouldn't have written her full name, so as to add confusion. Or he would have just left her middle names out completely. So meh.
