[...] Make your own t-shirts. It's a whole lot cheaper. And if you cant do that, send me a shirt, and I'll do it. I've made one for my best friend and one for me. They kick butt. Does it by any chance say, "I am NOT COunt Olaf"?

Guh, I hate Hot Topic too, I must say. So expensive, and that's not the only reason. It's not so much that it breeds posers (which it does) but that it makes me feel ashamed for ever liking something that I like, because I feel suddenly like I'm brought to the level of kids that pay $10 for fishnets just by liking Lemony Snicket, or whatever fandom is concerned. Making your own shirts IS cheaper. Just buy some iron-on printouts and design your shirt on the computer, print it out, iron it on. Fabric paint also works. I'm making my friend a black, long-sleeved t-shirt with a big white S on it because she liked the villain from 'The Incredibles'. ;D

God you are so awesome.
I totally understand the whole merchandizing thing. When I really like something and it becomes too popular and it starts being sold at Hot Topic, I usually shun away from said things. It bugs the hell out of me, because I see twenty people wearing the exact same outfits with no sense of originality. It makes asleia a sad little camper.

Hot Topic sucks. I agree very much, but I ended up going there to get my HP merch, sadly. Not only do they breed posers, I heard that Hot Topic is owned by the GAP, so how hardcore can they be? Plus its way overpriced. Iron-ons are a good idea! I've never tried it, but maybe I should...

Iron-ons work fine, I made my friend a shirt. She loves Hot Topic to death, but I find it over priced and whatnot. And I find my morbid sense more "classical," if that's right. Not like that.

Yeah, same here. I just go there for the t-shirts...I don't really like going in the store though, because everyone always stares at me whenever I do and I feel out of place.

Their sense of humor is sort of funny and I don't disapprove, but the way they stare at me you'd think I was a leper. Kinda freaky.

Hopefully HT will sell ASOUE stuff. If they do I really want a Violet or Klaus t-shirt. ;D

Hot Topic... Hm. I have no views on the goodness or badness of it. Yes, it breeds posers, and yes, it's expensive... but they have some rather awesome stuff. I don't care if they sell it, I just hope /someone/ does. But Hot Topic does seem like the place.
I made a shirt.... it says 'I <3 Violet Baudelaire'. I just wrote on white fabric with purple Sharpie and pinned it onto a black shirt. ::is inept:: Iron-ons, though, that's a good idea.
I hope there'll be a Littlest Elf shirt. And the 'I am NOT Count Olaf' thing is cool too... oh, and they should have socks with eyes on the ankle. XD

I like Hot Topic. Mainly because I can't find any band shirts at my convience.
I was hoping for some ASOUE merchandise.
People who magee about posers are lame. Try to be a little more creative with your opinions.

Try to be a little more creative with your opinions. What if that simply IS their opinion? True, there's no reason to go on and on about it, but it might just be something a few people are in agreement on. I don't know where I'm going with this though. I guess I'm getting at the difference between mageeing and stating an annoyance.

People who magee about posers are lame. Try to be a little more creative with your opinions. OK...how about this? Any "underground subculture" that you can buy into at a mall store has lost all of its credibility. It is an irony that most (but not all) Hot Topic regulars seem to miss: you are not alternative or are making any kind of statement regarding your individuality if you are covered head to to in a mass-marketed product. Teen angst rebellion turned into a packaged commodity. At best, shoppers are just gravitating towards an aesthetic, nothing more, just like some people like to shop at The Limited or The Gap. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, it just depends on the the attitude and/or delusions of the wearer. The days of punk or goth fashion making any kind of statement are long, long gone. That said, where else are ya going to go to fulfill your Nightmare Before Xmas or Happy Tree Friends fetish?
