Random-passer by was talking about the Catastrophic Card game earlier. Does anyone else have this game? I bought it a while back but haven't played it yet because I have no one to play with. I'd like to hear from someone who's played it already.

Ah, as would I! I don't have it, as I probably couldn't get my parents to take me to Toys 'R' Us if my life depended on it and I have no credit card, but I'm interested to see if it's any good. What kind of card game is it? Just one of those theme-picture Go Fish! games or what? Any new art?

Yes, there is fairly new art, but not Helquist. It's a lot like the puzzles if you've seen those. I'll try to scan some cards for you soon.
The game sounds like it's kind of like Gin. You have to make sets of Baudelaires, Henchmen, Guardians, etc.

Hey, that's rather neat. Violet looks about twelve, and KLAUS is skipping the rocks, but - there's Esmé!
I'll probably buy it eventually, if only because of the mad compulsive need to have things aSoUE. I look forward to seeing your scans if you put any up, Gigi!

I have it! It's a nice little game, nothing special. I thought that the illustrations were a little odd. The bald man with the long nose is especially odd, if I remember correctly.
See the man with the pocket watch? That's Lemony. Since when does Lemony wear that kind of outfit?

I don't have the cards with me now(not sure where I put them) but some of the illustrations were a weird mixture of book and movie designs. Stephano, for instance, had both a beard and a yellow coat. The bald man looked mostly like he does in the Marvelous Marriage portrait, only not as pale. And the woman in the coat and hat is Beatrice.

THE MAN WITH THE POCKET WATCH IS LEMONY? THE WOMAN IN THE HAT AND COAT IS BEATRICE?
That's pretty neat. I also notice that the pocket watch man resembles Daniel Handler more than is typically represented in pictures. Er, fandom pictures I mean, not the author photos or Helquist's (as I don't think we have any Helquist pics of Lemony), and also the movie Lemony, that is to say, Jude Law. Lemony wears that kind of stuff since he's been Daniel Handler, who if I remember correctly is certainly one to wear yellow shirts and purple everything else.
I wonder who he's waiting for, and also about the nature of the note Beatrice is reading.
I love that there's a Beatrice card.
Now I am doomed to buy this game.
