On another note, UnfortunateEvents.com has added their own countdown timer on a completely new front page, apparently to mark 13 days until The End.

The HarperChildrens Lemony Snicket page has added some other new activities. The "Negative Nautical Code" might contain Book Thirteen clues, or it could just be teasing or guesswork.

The Sad Sentences, Malicious Maze, Atrocious Artifacts, and Negative Nautical Code are all included in the Event Kit booklet. It's nice that they put them on their web site for others to use as well.

This bookseller's Snicket page has (Egmont edition) The End-themed wallpaper and a doorhanger, in addition to a puzzle ripped straight from PPuzzles, and it claims it'll have stickers in the near future. Oh, and for some reason, you can download the first letter from Beatrice to Lemony in TBL.

Oh, that's quite a nice wallpaper. I think I'll use it.

I like the door hanger idea, (even though I can't get it to work) but I live alone, so it wouldn't really make sense for me to use it

I just received the latest edition of TIME Asia magazine.
It has on page 63 an interview with Daniel Handler.
I'll post the 1st question (I don't really think its a spoiler - it has been mentioned many times already, i think)
"What happens at the end of The End? There's some death and birth and child rearing, and the possibility for enormous disaster, and the hope that enormous disaster can be averted."
If you want, I can scan the whole interview, quite short really.

If you could scan the whole interview, that'd be very welcome. (For one thing, it'd pretty much verify the source, although I'll add that quote to my list in the first post anyway - as you said, it's not exactly unexpected.)
Thanks for reporting that!

Looks like RockSunner may be right (quote from another thread - I don't know how to do those linky thingies):
Personally, I love the quote about Otto telling stories about cars that go to restaurants to eat fries. What an inventive mind!
