Barnes and Noble is holding a contest of which the prize is a copy of The End signed by Lemony Snicket. I didn't get to read to many of the details so you'll have to go to your local Barnes and Noble. What I can tell you is that you must be in grades 1-6 and must read at least 8 books. Then I assume you must fill out some paper and turn into a sales associate. They then let choose a free book (select titles only) and you'll be entered for the autographed book.

More information on the activities and requirements can be found here, which I'm pretty sure is the same competition. It's more of a summer reading exercise.

I've already had my two kids redeem their reading lists for a free book. This entered them into the drawing.
If you do it, make sure you put your phone number with area code on the form. That seems to be the only way they can contact you since this is a national contest, not one per store.

Just to wonder, do you recieve an early edition of The End, or just an on-time autographed copy?

I'd assume it's on-time, unless they actually want spoilers to be spread all over the Internet before the book's even released.
Fake Edit: Yeah, there's a pdf file that says that the drawing will be on October 13th, the day of the book's release.

And Barnes & Noble isn't very generous. Only 1 book will be given away nationwide. Your odds aren't very good. Giving away 13 books would have been more appropriate.
(I'm counting on getting my own when DH goes on book tour.)

I should keep watch for book tours, I'd love to finally see Handler like a bunch of people on 667 already have.

My two cousins are signed up and they're gonna give the book to me if they win!

I wish I could enter. But alas, I'm in the 9th grade this year. Which really, really sucks. I mean, really! What would a 1st or 2nd-grader even DO with an autographed copy of TE? Read it? The poor kid would be suffering!

They should give it to their Lemony Snicket obsessed mother, like I am expecting my kids to do if they win it!
Just kidding. But they did both finish two entries each. That gives them me four chances at the book.

hahaha. I know some little kids but unfortunately we haven't been to a bookstore in awhile, plus my sister is more interested in watching movies and jumping into other peoples' pools than reading a series of books to win me something. And of course this is the last asoue book. If it weren't I might get her to do it next year.

I'm a sixth grader, maybe I can bug my dad to take me to a Barnes and Noble. (We go to a place called Yesterday's Books here, the nearest Banres and Noble is three cities away.)

I tried to convince my brother to do this. I failed.

It seems we haven't much luck convincing younger people to win us that book. gar.

Yeah, that's how my brother is. But he's a loser and refuses to participate, so.
