When I first purchased The Beatrice Letters, I assumed the poster to be of the shipwreck which strands the Baudelaires and Olaf on the island. But, now that I’ve read the book, I don’t believe it to be so…
1) The boat still had Count Olaf on it at that point. 2) Sunny did not have her whisk. 3) They were shipwrecked directly onto the island. 4) Klaus has his glasses on the island, for a time, while the poster depicts them handing from a rope.
So, I thought it must be the Baudelaires leaving the island with Beatrice. BUT!
1) They did not take the big spatulas—they used sails, and the poster depicts the spatulas among the wreckage.
So…what does it depict?

The first wreckage, AND...
A wreckage that probably is LATER in the BB2's life, NOT the first trip across the sea.

The spatulas, however, might have been taken by the Baudelaires - all four of them - across the sea, in case they needed to paddle their way to land instead of being able to sail across the water.
If not, then they may be wreckage from the first crash.

They could have found the spatulas and taken them along just in case. After all, eventually, everything will wash up on the island's shores.
