What exactly is the deal with Mr. Poe and his stage name?
And while we're on that subject (kind of), can someone explain the whole "I was on a train to New York with a man named--" "Henry." "No."

It's showing how everyone has their own story that all seem to match up. They try to fill in someone elses story with tales from their own life, but it doesn't work. Hence, noone can even know "the whole" story.

It shows (twice) that although a lot of people in the world are connected, there are many smiliarities which haven't crossed. Think of it as an alternative story and the Baudelaire's story is just one of many of the world's stories.
Think of Henry and Co as people who have had similar fates to the Quagmires, but we never met them.

Exactly. The ponito f those two sections was to show how astronomically huge our world is, and how all stories will connect in one way or another.
As for Mr. Poe's stage name, I believe it was just a bit of randomness to add one more mystery, although its a great starting point for a fanfiction.
