Seven years have passed since 'The Bad Beginning' first hit store shelves back in 1999, and it's been one hell of a ride! From the bitter beginning, when the series' only readers were the special, select few, brave enough to engulf themselves in the twisted world of Lemony Snicket, to the huge boom of readers that led to over 50 million copies sold, seven years have come and gone, as have the trials of the Baudelaire orphans. Though I am devastated the series is over, I'm also glad I've found a series of books I'll be more than glad to introduce my children to one day, knowing that they won't be filling their heads with mindless crass about cuddly talking animals in colorful, fun-filled make-believe worlds. Rather, they will learn the harsh reality of things; the world is a cold place; people will love you, leave you, lie to you, and ultimately, let you down. The world can be a cruel place, and Lemony taught us that while keeping us on the edges of our seats, and, most importantly, laughing. I'm sure we'll all miss his sarcastic tone, the predictable, but downright enjoyable ways of the Baudelaires, and, ultimately, the time spent reading the novels, and discussing them afterward. To a good seven years! Cheers!

And to think I only started reading on Year Two.
Ah, my wasted youth. Cheers, Mr. Handler. Cheers.

I started reading in 2001, just before the boom. I remember it was around the time Book #5 was released in the UK. Ahh, good times.
*Looks forward to many years of re-reading*

I told my step-mom that I had seen them at the library, and had liked what I read. One day, I came home and she had bought me the set of the first three books!
So, I started around book 4. Way before the boom.
Edit:
OMG CHEERSNESS!

I found TBB in late 1999 or early 2000, so I've been with it from (nearly) the beginning of the beginning. It's been a lovely cruise. Thanks, Mr. Handler.
CHEERS!

I guess I joined somewhat late, right around the time that THH came out (2002). But I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My students have enjoyed 5 Unfortunate Days at school. I can't wait to see what Handler does next.
Bravo, Daniel Handler!

I was a late bloomer (I started reading when 11 came out), but it's still felt like an eternity sicne I first picked up Book 1 and was immersed in the world of Snicket.
But we're al lacting as if this is The End. Horseradish comes out in May, remember?

I started reading the series around when TGG came out too. My friend( who stopped reading them in the middle of TMM) recommended them to me, and now I have read all of the books, have all of the books(also I have TE audiobook) TTT, and some games and toys. Thank you very much Mr. Snicket

I got into them in 5th Grade, and I think that's when TSS came out. I saw one of my friends reading them and I hit the library.

I started in late 2002, about half a year before TCC came out. I got started by my neighbor who used to be obsessed with them, but she's a Senoir now.
Cheers.

I started sometime in 7th grade, 2004 or 2005. I'm guessing the begging of '05.
