If this is a crap thread, sorry. But I was inspired by www.thankyoustephencolbert.org and felt compelled to post it nevertheless. Basically, post your gratitude for Handler's amazing series, and whatever else he's accomplished. I guess I'll start. Thank you Mr. Handler. I began reading your books a wintry morning - Christmas, as it happens - four years ago. Since then, your wit, humor, and intellect have awed and inspired me. I have followed your other enterprises and hung on to your every word. I have joined this messageboard, 667 Dark Avenue, in the hopes of further discussing your exploits. I have stayed up late and woken up early simply to read your works. I admire you tremendously. For thirteen brilliant volumes, I commend and thank you. May your perspicacity and charm never end.

Thank you Mr. Handler. Thank you for allowing me, if only for a few hours, to dive deep into a world where secrets are a part of everyday life. Where happiness, though hidden far away, can be found in the simplest of places. Where three young orphans find the world they had lost what seems to be such a long, long time ago. Thank you. Thank you very, very much Mr. Snicket.

Dear Mr. Handler,
Over the past 4 years, when I first ran across your ASOUE, I have since been pleasently amazed at the tales you have woven intricately linking stories with secrets, and secrets with stories. You told it real, and you told it hard, yet you told it humorously and you I want to thank you for sharing your gift with us. When my own troubles in the world would seem to much, I could dive into a world where there is no hope, and at the same time all the hope you need. There have been days where I would go to bed early, and arise late, and yet not have slept at all, due to the flashlight hidden under my pillow, my pen and commonplace notebook leaving inkstains on my pillow and the stack of your books piled high. ASOUE filled many a day with my friends, in what we called "VFD 101, or FFP SISTERHOOD" in which we spent the long hours of summer afternoons snacking and disecting your novels. You have inspired me to read several classics, and have handed me unique and inane fun knowledge which I will pull out and surprise my un-ASOUE friends and family at least twice a week (my mom for instance is contanstly amazed by my recitation of the central theme of Anna Karenina "a rural life of moral simplicity, despite it's monotony, is the perferable personal narritive to a life of impulsive passion, which only leads to tragedy"). In short, you have filled my summer afternoons with happy memories, my nights with pleasent sleeplessness, and my thoughts with a buzzing desire to live my life, to extinguish the fires, and retire to my very own safe place. Thank You Mr. Handler. Thank you Mr. Snicket. Thank You very, very much.
