Fernald and Fiona (spoilers)

We havc an incomplete story about what happened to Fernald and Fiona, and it would be interesting to piece it together.

When we last heard in TPP, they had stolen the Carmelita and we also hear that the Quagmires were menaced by a hook-handed henchman.

As reported by Kit in TE, they are aboard the Queequeg, forgiven by Widdershins for their treachery, and get shipwrecked with the others when the eagles bring down the Deus Ex Machina.

What happened in between? Here is my theory. Kit set out in the Queequeg (still in good working order) and located Widdershins, who had somehow gotten out of whatever mess he had gotten into by following the swimming woman off the submarine. Together, they located and attacked the Carmelita, defeating it and taking Fernald and Fiona prisoner. In the process, both submarines were damaged and hopefully the rowing slaves were freed.

Then Kit and Widdershins worked to repair the Queequeg to catch up with the SSHAMH, which had drifted on. They didn't get there in time to help, and the airship crashed on them.

How does that sound?

Pretty good. That's about how I imagined it as well.

That may be why Olaf reported Fernald and Finoa stealing his submarine in TPP. He thought they had, as they were the only ones still left on it, but in reality, Kit and Widdershins had taken over it.
