We know that Beatrice is the baudelaires mother, in the dedication for book 5 it states that she had a grave. so if she died in the fire which burnt down the baudelaire house her body could have been lost, which suggests she may have died from other causes. Please discuss

For some reason, I think that she did. I know that there is probably evidence against that...but...

There;s the old issue that the fire was in the morning and Beatrice died in the afternoon. I had a fairly elaborate theory to go with "Beatrice Sank" in TBL. You can find it in my story "The Exttraneous End" in the fanfiction section.

I think that Beatrice is Mrs. Baudelaire. Kit's baby was named after Mrs. Baudelaire. In the fourteenth chapter of the last book it says about the baby "they could not say for sure whether she was reading the word out loud or merely stating her own name." The name of the boat is Beatrice, thus the name of the baby is Beatrice, thus the name of Mrs. Baudelaire (who's name is mentioned nowhere else) is Beatrice. Who agrees or disagrees?

No one disputes that Beatrice is the Bauds mom. We all confirmed this, but the question is did she die in the fire?
I don't think she did, but the Baudelaires would have said something if she died prior.

Well, I actually have a question... Take your LSUA, and re-read Sally Sebald's letter and the movie script... The question is : WHO was in the ù^*-ing snowman ? Lemony ? That doesn't make sense, because he asked for information about the making of the film. Béatrice ? No, she MUST be dead. So... Who the heck was inside the snowman ?

I always thought the person in the snowman was Quigley Quagmire. I don't believe what he told the Baudelaires in TSS was the whole story.

I personnaly think that he was honest towards them, because he said a lot of things on Jacques wich can be verified in LSUA, like the Paltryville Fiasco. And it's not nice to accuse a dead person like that. Well, maybe it was Jacques in the snowman after all. That stinks a bit, but it wouldn't be incoherent.

Beatrice ? No, she MUST be dead. Why? She can be still alive! Lemony can only THINK her to be dead!

Yeah, yeah... But that would stink a bit, wouldn't it ? If Béatrice's alive, that would mean that Lemony wrote the books for nothing, and that Béatrice never ever tried to see her children again. To be short, Béatrice could be alive, but that would be useless to the story and dissapointing.

Why disappointing? Life is always better than death! And, as Baudlaires said, Beatrice could try to find them. But, because of different circumstances, she was not able to meet with Violet, Claus and Sunny.

Bah, I really need to get myself the blank book and fill it will all these referable and random quotes, they may come in handy. Anywho, I was re-re-re-reading ASOUE, and when I came across TAA I found....*searches for page again*
'"Did your father die in the fire?" "Yes he did," Klaus said, "and my mother too."'. - pg 46 TAA
Alrighty, this confirms that Beatrice didn't die PRIOR to the the events in TBB. Therefore, she may have escaped, died later, and be put into a grave.
If Beatrice did die in the fire, would it be plausible to say that Lemony began writing these books years after they actually happened. Therefore allowing a grave to be made for the Baud mom?

I think that it is extremely likely that Beatrice did, in deed, die in a fire (if not, specifically, the one which burnt down the Baudelaire mansion). Evidence for this is scattered throughout the series. One instance is the triptych of Beatrice which included a painting of a fire. Furthermore, many of the dedications to Lemony's lover do hint towards her being involved with a fire:
"For Beatrice- No one could extinguish my love, or your house."
