Oh, I thought he got the killing curse. I never really got what that curtain was, I need to reread the chapter(s).

I've thought it was some kind of "portal" to the death.

Okay, I reread it, I think it's the link connecting the mortal world to the world of the dead. And I think Sirius got hit by the killing curse. It said his eyes widened in shock, he arched slowly back, etc., I don't think it was the veil that killed him, but I think it was there to show he's dead. Think of it this way:
Sirius got hit by the Killing Curse, and he fell back through the veil. Harry was hoping he'd come back out, but he didn't. He crossed over to the other side (of the veil), and he wasn't coming back.
Sirius got hit by the Killing Curse, died, and fell back through the veil. Harry was hoping he'd come back, but he didn't. He crossed over to the other side (from mortal to dead), and wasn't coming back.
Do you see what I mean?

DA- i see what you mean, but i still dont think he got avada kedavra. harry wouldnt have thought that he would come back if he had got AK. im not sure i get what youre saying about the veil being there to show he was dead. i mean, if he did get AK, he would have died if he fell through the curtain or not.
i think its up for interpretation tho.

He wasn't an idiot. He was quite smart, just fame-hungry. And a little crazy.

You forgot that he was almost a squib, either that or he was just to stupid to be able perform a spell.

Lockhart is pretty bad at magic. He's also intelliegent though, he just looks stupid in CoS because he pretends to know how to do things that he doesn't.
