I feel EXTREMELY stupid after reading an HP guide, and I hope this isn't an insult to peoples' intelligence, but did u by chance notice that erised is desire backwards? And that the inscription on it, if read back wards and broken apart to form readable words says: I show not your face but your heart's desire. It's all backwards, how I could've not realized this, having read HPSS years ago...

I noticed, but I was a bit obsessed with codes and such at the time.

I typed this (not the explanation, but the saying) out earlier in this thread, I think, but I show not your face but your heart's desire is one of my favorite little sayings. I didn't realise it until I read the guide, either, Jacques, but I read the guide a long time ago. ;D

I have this awful habit of reading books that explain a series based one fave parts, so it takes me awhile to finally start from the beginning and read the whole thing through, but I did catch that. They think we'll "probably going to see that mirror again" so when will it pop up?

I Dunno when the mirror of erised will turn up next, but I hope we do see it again sometime, I like it. I wonder what hermione would see if she looked in it?

I knew about erised backwards, but I didn't think about it long enough to post it here.

Maybe, but as Hermione said herself, there are things more important than grades, you know. Maybe she sees a statue of herself that says below it: in recognition of Hermione Granger's contribution on the treatment of houselves.

How about this: Maybe she sees herself arm in arm with Krum, holding aced NEWT papers, with freed house-elves bobbing around her ankles.

I would see myself in front of Teck Ghee Primary, surrounded by all my old friends and teachers that I miss SO much!

Hee, I just noticed you said that, Zach. Even though it was about ten thousand years ago...
Yeah, it takes a pretty good person.
