in book five dumbledore is talking to the headmasters portraits and mentions a fortescue..or maybe a florean i cant remember, but either way i think it might be a reference to the florean fortescue in book 3 who owns the ice cream parlour and helps harry with his homework..what do u think?

Hey, I figured that out a long time ago! I also figured out that Sturgis Podmore may be related to the headless ghost in book 2: SIr patrick delaney podmore. With a bit o help I also thought Gladys Gudgeon(gilderoy fan in books 2 and 5) could be related to davie gudgeon(lupin mentions him in book 3 chapter 10) so yes I think they are related.

Speaking of related names, ever notice:
Bellatrix Lestrange-Evil Voldie Supporter Harry Potter-Good Voldie opposer Beatrix Potter-Author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit
Think there is any relation? Remember: Once upon a time there were four little bunnies. There names where Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter. Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail were good little bunnies, went down to the lane to gather blackberries. But Peter who was very naughty, went straight and squeezed under the gates of Mr. McGregor's garden...

haha. I use to read those stories all the time. I even still have dishes with Peter Rabbit on them.
That's a good theory, but I think it's just a coincidence.

Yeah, probably, but it is still strange that the names are so much alike.
Lol, the reason I thought of that was because I had just gotten a Peter Rabbit chocolate bunny for Easter and noticed who it was written by. Kinda funny.
;D

I wonder if more will be said about the descendant things between them? One more, in the owl memory in book 5, in the pensieve harry tells flitwick that stebbins must put his pencil down. Didn't snape tell off a stebbins in book 4 while walking with karkaroff?

Good idea. Though it is annoying if she goes to the trouble to relate people like that and doesn't go anywhere with it..

Yeah, It would be incredibly annoying. But I don't see how see can tie up all these relations in the space of 2 books. That is why I think that some of them will go unresolved.
