Would anyone think that Sirius had a mostly happy life or that he suffred alot? He had a best friend all his life, then he went to azkaban, but didn't, then found his godfather, then died in battle, which is how he would've wanted to die.

I think that Sirius died a hero, exactly as he wanted. He died for his friends as he said he would in POA. Sad that Sirius was Harry's breakthrough, but Rowling should tell us more in book 6. She said so.

Sirius fell through a freaking veil with no satisfactory reason other than being a device for devolpving Harry's character further. It was pointless and stupid and Sirius would be a lot more useful to Harry alive.
I think he was on his way to having a happy life after he got of Azkban and he was hopeful about getting his name cleared but having one of his best friends die and then being sent to Azkaban for it when he was still young doesn't seem very happy to me. And is Lupin his best friend through his whole life? I don't think Lupin was visiting him in Azkaban or sending him Christmas cards, Lupin thought he was a traitor until the end of POA.
What's JK gonna tell us more about? Sirius not really being dead? *tail wag*

No, she's going to tell why Sirius had to die. Yes, he did fall through a veil, but he was fighting before for Harry's life.

I know why he had to die. Because he's not dead.. I'm aware that doesn't make sense. Hopefully she has a better reason then 'that's life'. Oh fighting for Harry's life blah blah blah, Harry's not worth it.

I think the name of this topic should be changed so as to not spoil it for those who have not read book 5 yet.
I also agree, I think Sirius will be back in some way... and my one friend also agrees... so you're not alone in thinking he's alive, Pancake.

I find it ironic that the title of the thread is "Sirius's Death" and next to it is Sirius had a good life at Hogwarts, and a dull life at home, (rather like Harry). He then had some good times, then was accused of killing his best friend.

I really hope Siris isn't dead. He was one of my favorite adult charactors, and I was ready to kick J.K. Rowling for killing him off.

I also agree, I think Sirius will be back in some way... and my one friend also agrees... so you're not alone in thinking he's alive, Pancake. I've gathered a group of supporters where I live that think he's comming back, after I finished reading the book I joined a group for people in denial about his death. But now just to make myself feel better I've started looking through the book to see if I can tell myself he isn't really dead yet. Someone pointed out to me that no one who knows what the veil really is has actually called Sirius dead. Which is true as far as I can tell but then I started crying so I put the book down. So now I'm just immersing myself in slashy fanfiction. Works for me.

I thought the death was completely undignified and pointless. I mean, all of Harry's family is dead now, save for the Dursleys - but who knows, they might disappear next book. Anyway, I hope there's an explanation and he'll return.

Luna said that "they" were just hiding. Maybe inside the veil is where people who DON'T want to become ghosts go.
