JK Rowing might say that there's "pretty much nothing that I wouldn't discuss in a children's book." But it's not as easy as that. There are editors. Even if the editors allowed R/S slash, what do you think people will think? People are protesting the book because Harry made a feather fly. Homosexual relationships--especially today--are not ready for a child's book like Harry Potter. Some people might argue that there's worse things in Harry Potter, like death. But people are used to death. Homosexuality is a relatively new issue, brought to public awareness in 1977 be John Ritter on the pseudonym "Jack Tripper" while death has been going on since the beggining of life, or soon after, at least.
People have all ages read Harry Potter, all beliefs, all religion. Some people use it as an escape from life, politics and issues. Some people don't want their five year old to have a view on homosexual marriages just yet. Some people don't want their six year old daughter to think about abortion. These books are for kids. And if someone wants their child to learn homosexuality tolerance, there's Heather has Two Mommies and whatnot.

These books were never meant for five or six year olds in the first place. They were young adult, written for teenagers but with the huge craze everyone is reading them. If they have a problem with the book, they shouldn't be reading it. It's freaking fiction anyway.
I'm clueless as to why you posted this though because in the Remus/Sirius thread no one argued with you. I think everyone agreed we wouldn't be seeing slash in HP. That doesn't mean I can't love Sirius/Remus slash until my little fangirl head explodes though. But I don't think there shouldn't be slash or adult themes just becasue some small minded parents can't handle it. Whatever JK wants to be in the book is what should be in the book.

J: Because I wanted to post it in another R/S-centric forum but I'm too lazy to make anaccount.

Most of those R/Sers probably know there won't be any real canon romance between the two. That's what fanfictions and forums are for.

M: I have no life, so I already finished it. Yes, that is what's in my sig. M: Actually, J, in this day and age, homosexuality is generally accpeted in entertainment. Literature or television, I don't feel it makes a difference. Endy: *CoughBertandErniecough*

I agree with Pandy on this matter. These are young adult, and, if JKR puts slash in book 6 or 7 (I hope she will, slash OR femme), well;
1) It'd be on the news, 2) She'd get flamed by mothers, 3) In a press conference, she'd HAVE to state it, and 4) I don't think as many fan'll want to read it.
God knows why I posted all that...
