It makes sense that he called him James when he did but because the whole scene was so rushed it felt weird.

I thought the James thing was excellent. It reinforces the whole "He's living through you, Harry" thing that Hermione says. It was good stuff; it wouldn't have worked earlier, Sirius wouldn't have made that mistake unless he was being rushed.

I understand that he was rushed, but that was the last thing he said to Harry before he died. It makes their godfather-son relationship something of a sham. As though Sirius wouldn't care for Harry if he hadn't reminded him so much of James.

Sirius cared for Harry because he was James' son. It'd make no sense if Harry didn't remind him of James, seeing as everyone mentions how alike they looked. I thought it was really touching. I would think it would make Harry feel proud to have been mistaken for his father because it shows how much skill he really does have.
I never noticed this thread really and I haven't read it all yet, so sorry if these things have already been discussed.
Overall, I really liked the movie. I feel that there's no point in expecting a movie to be just like a book and that by picking out every difference and flaw it just makes you have a worse time. My main disappointment was the Department of Mysteries fight. I never ever pictured it in a small circular room with the veil in the center. It made it seem like it was the veil room or something, and I always thought of it as a room that happened to have a veil off to the side over there. The Sirius death scene was cheesy but cute. I liked how the death eaters flew around, though. That was cool. Bellatrix looked like Amy Winehouse which forced me to not take her seriously, but that's about it. Luna was great, right after the OotP book came out I had a secret dream of playing Luna in the movie, but I doubt I could have done a better job. She was too cute, I never pictured her as cute, but I'm not complaining.
What I hate about movies is that now I picture the characters as their movie characters when I'm reading, and they'll mention some sort of feature that doesn't fit them and totally throws me off.
Oh, and I didn't like how the whole DA got the same detention as Harry.

I liked how Sirius called Harry James. Sirius loves Harry for the same reason Snape hates harry, he reminds them both of James. In the end it balances out.

Why not? In my opinion it's better than making a new thread, this way people who want to air their opinions can see what others have said before, plus it's less clutter. It's now out on DVD, I'll probably ask for it for Christmas.

I got a sudden flashback to a few years ago when Sorcerer's Stone came out. A 3-year-old kid I know saw an ad for it and said excitedly, "Mom! Harry Potter on video and DVD!" It was so cute!

I finally watched it the other day. I was kind of disappointed. Especially in Umbridge. She wasn't as b*tchy as she was in the book, I think. I also imagined her as being shorter and fatter.
