I thought it was lackluster and mangled the book even moreso than 3 and 4. I'll go into specifics later. There were plenty of good things.

HATED IT! It was so mangled. What ever happened to the 2-way mirrors, and how Kreacher is to really blame about Sirius? The whole scene with Snape's memory was seen through a pensive, not through Harry reading Snape's mind. Why did they even try and cast peopel who looked like the marauders if you could barely even see them? *FURIOUS*

Holy crap, I'm an idiot. I posted the movie and video game threads in WWorld. Why didn't I post them here? Can you move them or delete the movie thread or something? It's a poll on who cried, so you might not want to, but meh.
Anyway, I loved it. They obviously missed some book details, but I still think it's a cut up from three and four.

that movie was an ENORMOUS disappointment to me. i found myself picking out every thing they screwed up. i went at midnight with my friends and a few of them didn't read the book and they were all confused. they didn't even realize what the Order of The Phoenix was. and what happened to Ron and Hermione being prefects? and i don't recall Umbridge having over 200 rules. or her having a bunch of people in detention.

The other thing that really irked me was that Sirius was hit with Avada Kedavra. In all reality, he should have been dead before he hit the veil. It was a very slow Avada Kedavra death, and in the book, he was not even hit by Avada Kedavra. What hit him ws red, while Avada Kedavra casts a green light. In the book, the veil is what killed him, not the spell. Also, the veil looked stupid. Sirius was just sort of hanging out there for a while, like hey, I'm eventually going to fall...I think...
And anyway, Sirius isn't dead.

I used to nitpick about book vs. movie details, but I never enjoy the movies that way. Sure, they missed a lot from the book, but all movies do that. I wanted to see more of Snape's memory, of course, but oh well.

I know I'm going to be very unpopular for saying this, but I thought this adaptation tightened up the plot in ways that Rowling should have done. Gee, nobody even mentioned yet that Cho wasn't the one in the book that betrayed Dumbledore's Army! You guys are falling down on the job. Performances by Imelda Staunton, Matthew Lewis, and Evanna Lynch were especially outstanding. IMHO, Daniel Radcliffe gets better with every movie. (I'll probably be unpopular for that opinion, too!)

i have too much stuff to mention but i'll try anyways. i hate how they portrayed Grawp though. he's not in love with Hermione. oh yea.. WHY WAS THERE NO QUIDDITCH OR HOUSE POINTS!??!!? and the very beginning reminded me of a horror movies...and i hate how they silenced Sirius' death. i thought for sure i was going to cry but i didn't. and they way the veil like...absorbed him was stupid. and what was the thing near the end in the Ministry when Voldemort was kinda...inside of Harry, and in the glas shards? oh and i hate Dumbledore's short little explantion to Harry at the end. and i really wanted to see all the stuff in the Department of Myserties>

This is going to sound snarky, but is anyone ever satisfied with the movie adaptation of a beloved book? Ever?

they could've done A LOT better. i mean there's "gee they left out some stuff" and "where did half the story line go?"

If they kept all the 870 pages, it would be five hours long and full of Harry's musing and whining. While it would be great for book lovers, people going to see it just because would get bored and they would lose sales. While I'm depressed about Ron's song being left out, Quidditch doesn't fit into this movie.
Edit: Sorry, I'm thinking HBP.
Another edit: I'm confusing myself. No, I wasn't.

i felt bad for this group of people in front of me who made shirts dedicated to "Weasley is Our King" and then it wasn't in the movie.
and they could've at least kept things in the right order...

Books and movies are two different things, it's impossible to adapt them exactly.

I already said this in the other thread, so it's copy/paste time. I really liked it. I didn't cry, but my friend did. Really, the only things that I can think of that annoyed me were that the students had a lot of muggle things and that there was hardly any Draco. And it would have been nice to see ST. Mungos and a longer Snape's memory scene. But other than that, I thought it was good. Oh, and the school year seemed so short. I did like the whole thing with Dudley. The dementors looked different, but I was just like oh well. And I didn't like how everyone who was on the DA got detention with Umbridge. And the battle did seem kinda short and the department of mysteries was so much smaller. I just realized how a lot of the things I said are negative and stuff, but those are the only things, and I liked everything else.
