Seeing as nagini's as thick as a man's thigh she could be about six feet long. Let's just say she's absolutely enormous. I'm glad they mentioned more of Grindelwald too, I'd hoped we'd get more info on him.

I just finished it today because I don't read quickly, *shame*, but I thought it was really, utterly brilliant. It was a very *jawdrop* I also hadn't been following the speculation, so a lot of what happened, like Snape and Lily, was unexpected. Poor Snape. And I thought him evil all this time. *shame* Mature Harry was nice; I didn't realize how much he had grown until I read this thread. I also realized during this thread how much Neville became like Harry during the seventh year at Hogwarts. He restarted Dumbledore's Army and dared to resist the Carrows, and then he pulled a Harry completely by pulling the sword of Gryffindor out of the Sorting Hat and killing the snake. Gosh, I loved Neville in this book, and Luna too. I was really, really impressed with Professor McGonagall ("CHARGE!") and Mrs. Weasley. Hermione, too, because it seemed for a while that she was really the one leading the team.
George's ear was uncalled for. That's going to be horrible to watch in the movie.
I couldn't stand Muriel, I wanted to punch her in the face. It didn't matter how old she was. Oh, and Hedwig was horrible; her death was shocking and awful. So was the fact that Rowling kept making fun of Hagrid's size ("...and Hagrid was STILL trying to fit through the door..."). The part where James, Lily, Remus and Sirius came back was the saddest thing I've ever read in my life.
And golly, I'm sorry this post has no organization whatsoever. One last point, and that is that it was definitely necessary for Harry to defeat Voldemort in the end, because the wizarding world would be in ruins if he didn't, and it wouldn't be the end of the series. Even though we all expected it to happen, we were definitely still in suspense about it. Aside from that, a happy ending was inevitable, because the message from the rest of the series would really be lost otherwise. All in all, *love*.

I loved the book...i thought it was absolutely brilliant...especially the last battle... I couldn't put it down when i was reading that For some reason i felt the saddest at Hedwig and Dobby's deaths...i think because they were so innocent and Dobby's death was described much more than Fred and everyone elses. I started crying when Harry started to dig his grave by hand and they wrapped him up in their clothes..poor little guy.. Like someone said before, i think Colin Creevy's death was pointless...and i think Tonks should have lived to look after Teddy. I accepted Lupin's death because i guess he was reunited with all of his friends.. Snape's chapter was my favourite...i always hoped he would be good...i loved when it described him crying over Lily's photo..and how he wanted to look at Harry's eyes one last time before he died.. One thing that annoyed me though was that we never found out what happened to Dudley and Luna...i hope she married Neville But overall i think it was great and almost my favourite out of the series

Question: Did both of Tonks' parents die? Her father did, but did her mother? She would probably have raised the kid, then....

No, Andromeda's still around. Ted only died cause he fled with Dean and the goblins remember?
I felt like Wormtail's, Lupin's, and Tonks' deaths were done badly. Because with Remus and Tonks you didn't really get an emotional overload because instead of seeing them expire you just have Harry walking past their bodies. And Wormtail's was just totally random. Oh THAT'S why Snape grabbed Harry, he wanted to look at Lily's eyes. *is dumb*
I felt horrible when Hedwig and Dobby died. It's pathetic when I feel worse for Hedwig than I do for Lupin.
Snape was such a fascinating character, and now we figured out what drove him and all the stuff he did. Though I feel horrible for having hated him, JKR doesn't view him as a hero at all, he's still a greasy unpleasant bully no matter what he did. But what can I say, I feel horrid for the guy.
I also feel bad for suspecting Mcgonogall of being a spy, she was amazing in the final battle. "We teachers are quite good at magic you know."

I felt horrible when Hedwig and Dobby died. It's pathetic when I feel worse for Hedwig than I do for Lupin. I felt the same thing....i felt so sad about the death of Hedwig and Dobby and didn't really care that much about the deaths of everyone one else....i think it was because a lot of the other deaths were hastily done...there were some that i didn't even realise had died and had to read that bit again (Fred for instance)... I agree that Snape didn't get the recognition he rightly deserved.. After Harry see's all of Snape's memories, the first thought that came to him was that he had to die...he never even thought of Snape and what he had done for him all of those years and what he had felt the whole time... After reading that chapter i re-read the one where McGonnagal and the other teachers turn on him and felt soooo sad for him... I think Snape's a hero...

Wormtail's death sucked. It was like, he appears for pretty much the first time in the story, only to die like, a paragraph later. No reflection upon his death, either. Just "Oh, so Dumbledore planned this as well."
Remus and Tonks' deaths were allright. It made sense that Harry wouldn't be around to witness it all.

I dont understand...why did Wormtail have to kill himself to repay the debt?

I personally thought that Wormtail would have been used to help Harry against Voldemort at least once before he died so he would be able to redeem himself...sort of...
I guess he did help Harry in a way, but i thought he would have been in the final showdown or something...

I think Snape's a hero... I think so, as well. He withstood hatred and mistrust for years just for love. Not even obtainable love...just love. Obviously, he wasn't fond of the Order members nor were they of him, particularly after Dumbledore's death (which omg dumbledore ordered!) and he wasn't receiving a warm welcome back with the Death Eaters until he killed Dumbledore...yet, for Lily, he did all that he could. I was touched. I don't have the book, I had to read it over Amber's shoulder. I might have missed a lot. I didn't realize Lupin and Tonks were dead at first. I was like 'oh theyre just sleeping' and Amber told me that they were. Also, I didn't get the Deathly Hallows. Can Harry still die? Because he should be Death's conquerer. He had the stone, the wand, and the cloak. Isn't that how he escaped death after Voldemort killed him? Doesn't anyone think breaking out of Gringotts on a dragon is not the coolest image ever? There were so many amazing images in the book. I'd never thought I'd say this...but I can't wait for the movie. Seeing the seven Harrys alone would have gotten me into the theater. And did anyone think that Lupin's mysterious depression after he married Tonks was gay-repression Sirius!angst?

The book made it sound like Fleur and Ginny came in their normal clothing, so besides seeing Harry in drag, we'll be seeing him in the opposite gender's underwear, if only breifly. Not exactly a "family-friendly" thing, eh?

Moody had brought them clothes to change into, so they probably won't have a problem making that audience friendly.

I'm aware of course, but it said pretty clearly that they changed out of their clothes before grabbing the stuff out of Moody's bag. Just saying that a perfectly accurate rendition might be a bit mature.

And did anyone think that Lupin's mysterious depression after he married Tonks was gay-repression Sirius!angst? I always felt so bad for Lupin, in that he loved Tonks, but was always trying to protect her from him and his werewolfism. I think he was happy to be with her, but still worried about the full moon every month. This was compounded with her pregnancy and the uncertainty as to the baby's fate. Would he/she be a werewolf too? So I think he was just always worried about those things. Because of that, I thought it was touching how excited he was when Teddy was born. And I think Teddy turned out okay, not a werewolf.

The whole deathly hallows thing is a fairy tale, they aren't really deathly hallows, just incredibly powerful magical objects. The Peverells didn't meet death they just made those objects, and the thinking is that if you have all 3 of these awesome objects at once you're invincible, the things don't inherently make you immortal.
I felt bad for Lupin too but I felt like he was being way too mopey and should just appreciate that he had a wife who didn't care that he was a werewolf.
