One of the first lessons they got to in HPB is Slughorns potions lesson.
In that lesson he has about 4 potions in Cauldrons for them to look at.
One is the truth potion - however in OOTP, Snape tells Umbridge that she will have to wait till the full moon for the next supply.
Another is the Polyjuice Potion - however this takes a month to brew as we learn in CoS.
Slughorn also has some Felixes Felices potion - however we learn later on in the book that it takes 6 months to brew.
How did Slughorn manage to get all those potions ready so quickly?
He couldnt have done it all before because he had no intention of going back to teaching.

Maybe he had made them previously, in preparation for the lesson.

Well he probably did have a month between the time Dumbledore recruited him and the time he taught that lesson to brew polyjuice and veritaserum. Does it say anything about how long it takes to make Amortentia?
Plus slughorn is on the run, it would be only natural that, being a potions master, he'd keep potions like felix felicis and polyjuice on him at all times and he'd been on the run for a year at that point.

Yeah, but how on earth do you keep a cauldron full of Polyjuice potion on you?
He might have been able to carry Felix Felices but im not sure about the others.
Also, i doubt he had a month between being recruited, because after Harry persuaded him to come back, he went to the burrow and stayed they for probably a max of 2 weeks. He then went back to Hogwarts and i doubt they would have two whole weeks before thiers lessons start - infact, i remember Mcgonogal handing out the timetables the next morning.

Maybe he stored them in a bag like Hermione has in DH.

That seems more possible to me. Although his bag is probably bigger, as he has so much stuff he wants to trade/sell.

Right. Pretty much anything is possible when you throw magic into the equation.

Yea, maybe it was a mistake, but if anyone asks JKR about it, she could just make up some wacky magic thing to cover it up.

Of course she could! And we would, nonetheless, be awed and amazed.

It says in the second book that it would take Hermione a month to make Polyjuice potion. When Hermione was twelve, no matter how smart she was, she was no potions master.

Was there not something about the ingredients having to be picked at a certain time according to moon phases? I thought that was why it was going to take the Trio a month.

Probably. Either way with all the magical abilities out there slughorn could easily have made or lugged along potions in time for the lesson. Or maybe they were already at hogwarts as samples?

Yeah, Hogwarts might've had samples, or, well, Slughorn could've easily bought samples. There are potion stores, there's the Apothecary at Diagon Alley...I don't really think this is a mistake, just a misconception that could be cleared up if we were to know everything Slughorn did during that time...XD

As for the Veritaserum, Snape was probably lying to avoid giving it to Umbridge.

Right. Along the lines of my samples proposal I thought that perhaps Snape had made such potions for a standard N.E.W.T lesson or as examples and Slughorn took them over. It could happen, though unlikely seeing as Snape would never have offered a reward for his students such as Slughorn did.
