There are way too many freakish similarities between these two series. Like, when I read DH and found out that Remus and Tonks die after Teddy is born (which I found out long before I read it, as always... stupid internet), I was like "Aw man, this is like Kit and Dewey all over again!" I mean, in both series, my two favorite characters have a kid and then die (or the other way around)... It kinda sucks... Lemony managed to make it ever so much more tragic though... Also, the situation between Beatrice, Lemony, and Bertrand is a bit like the one between Lily, Severus, and James... Sorta. Same with Jerome, Esme, and Olaf and Rodolphus, Bella, and Voldemort.

. . . my two favorite characters have a kid and then die (or the other way around)... Would it even be possible to do this the other way around? (However, your observations on similarities in the books are interesting.)

Well, it's not completely possible but it was pretty close...

You mean something like Macduff in Macbeth, who was "from his mother untimely ripped"?

um... I have no idea *confused* I mean, like, ya know how Kit died right after Beatrice was born... So Beatrice was basically an orphan for her whole life...

Those are interesting similarities though I'm sure they're not due to any "copying" on the part of either author. There is also an anagram in CoS and we all know about the anagrams in tbb, trr, and thh to name a few.

Would it even be possible to do this the other way around? Well, with Kit/Dewey/Beatrice, Dewey died, then Kit had Beatrice, then Kit died. One parent died before Beatrice was born, one died after.

I think we're just puzzling out the difficulty of "my favorite characters had a kid then died" being transformed into "my favorite characters died then had a kid" it just doesn't fit as well as the first version.
