What exactly is 'emo'? I've heard Zach say it plenty of times. Er... What is it?

I thought the music was called ska and the clothes and the style were called emo... I guess not. From what I've heard of both genres, ska is as far away from emo as you can possibly get. I think of ska as similar to both swing jazz and reggae, and a certain type of it has a punk flavor as well (I think that one's called skunk, ska-punk). I know nothing about music though so take this with a pillar of salt and correct me if I'm wrong. Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra <3

Well, I have quite a few ska c.d.s, such as the Skalites and The Slackers, and I think I can safely say that they're as far away from punk as you can possibly imagine. Reggae/swing, as Luna put it, would be the best way to put it. Anyhow. Emo is funny. Has anyone seen the movie "Emo Farm"? BRILLIANT.

I reckon emo styles pretty cool, but I'd never actually wear it, and as for the music......no tanx. lol. There's about a million emo's at my school (their true colours come out at night .lol) and alot of them actually wear the make-up and stockings and that to school too. One of my friends wants to go emo, and I reckon she'd be a cool one! Anywho, in my oppinion, emo's are try-hard-goths.
