Okay, I'm bored, and feel like being a conformist tonight... I've never made one of these threads yet, so I suppose I may as well. Vote for what you think of me.

I voted "Wish she'd die" because I noticed I hadn't voted that yet on any of the other polls.
Had I honestly voted, it'd be something like, "yay, she rocks" or something. blahblahblahcakes.

Librarians have to put up with a lot of crap. Proof? I was at the library, checking out books, when.... Random Woman: Hahahaha! You're wearing velvet in July! Aren't you hot? Hahahahah!!! Librarian: Ummm... Sorry? RW: Hahahaha! It's just funny that you're wearing velvet in July! I've never seen anyone wearing velvet in July! L: Well, I usually wear black. RW: Hahahaha! It's just that you're wearing velvet... AND IT'S JULY! L: O.... K.....

It's just that you're wearing velvet... AND IT'S JULY! L: O.... K..... That's nice and random. Let's see... I think the craziest situation we've had while I was there was when there was a lady who apparently returned a book the night before, but the computer didn't register it, so she came in and was complaining about it. It turned out it was a book that had to be sent to another library when it was returned, and she was expecting us to look through all the boxes of books being sent out (and there were a lot that day). Some of the other workers were trying to calm her down, and one was trying to sympathize with her, saying something to the effect of, "Yeah, this has happened to me a couple times..." but the lady cut her off, and said something like, "This isn't about you, it's about me..." Eventually she left (after about half an hour of ranting), and the main librarian tried to apologize and shake her hand, and she refused, saying, "I'm not going to shake your hand... what I'm going to do is pray for you..." Yes, I'm sure misplacing a book will condemn souls and make them unclean to touch... riight... The other good event was when a couple boys were skateboarding on the wheelchair ramp, and so their boards were taken away, and they were told to come back later with a parent to get them back. By the time they came with their dad, only part-timers were left of staff, so no one had the authority to return their skateboards, and the dad had a fit... he said something about, "I'm trying to teach these kids to not take things that don't belong to them, what sort of example are you setting by doing this?" I wanted to go up to him, and ask, "Sir, if they had drugs, and the police confiscated them, would you be telling the police the same thing?" So... yeah. That's my adventures at the library. There are good points though. For a couple weeks in a row, a mom came in with her daughter, who was only 4 or 5, and it was quite cute. The girl came up to me, and started a conversation about that she was going to see Sesame Street Live, and then she did a very cute impression of The Count... eventually her mom was like, "Okay, we have to let her do her work," and the girl was like, "No, I'm helping put books away, too!" And when the mom said it was time to leave, the girl was like, "But I love her ["her" being me]!!" It was so cute... moments like those make it worth putting up with the idiots mentioned earlier in the post.

But they have a HUGE waiting list, because it's actually a really good job for students, as it pays a lot more than most of those types of jobs... The library makes me happy... :]
