I am not calling you a liar, but the weight of the internet is currently stacked against your story. Post a screen shot, scan the box, anything. Look, I WANT to be wrong.
Not one other web site has mentioned this game. Do a search for "Series of Unfortnate Events" in Japanese (type "Lemony Snicket" into the search engine at amazon.co.jp to get the Japanese characters) and again, only the books come up.
If this game exists, it is not an officially licensed product. Or perhaps it's actually from China and not Japan, in which case it is almost certainly a bootleg.

Possibly someone sold out the code activision was working on, and a foreign company bought it. It happens. But I am skeptical.

I'm with Lemon curry and Tragedy on this one.
Activision announced on 30 Oct that they had the lisence for the game. Ever hear of a video game being released in a less than a month?

Haha, I love that avatar. It's mesmerizing.
Some Japanese gaming site listed Activision as making the ASOUE game as well, so I don't think it's a false rumor. I just hope they don't screw it up royally.

On most occasions, video games for movies are usually made in America and released hereand in the UK first, much like the people who make the gfames for all the super hero movies like THE HULK and SPIDER MAN. I imagine that a game for ASoUE will play out alot like the Harry Potter games, which werent bad for rentals.

i think a video game s a little to much. i mean the movie has not even come out.and plus, all these pop loving, justin timberlake is hot kind of people will be interested in it and they will not even understand it. they will only read it because it became a movie.i mean we will be the only people that really know and love asoue for what it really is. i mean a video game, what next? asoue sheos, dolls, and WIGS! i mean the wigs would be good, but everything else! what i am trying to say is, why do we need video games of this, the books are good enough.

...why do we need video games of this, the books are good enough. Welcome to modern consumerism. Why is this a surpise to anyone, really? Readers seem to be genuinely shocked when the mainstream picks up on a secret pleasure that they thought they had all to themselves, "corrupting" it with movies, games, toys, Happy Meals, theme parks, Ice Capades shows, what-have-you, while ignoring the fact that it's happening all around them 24-hours a day and that their favorite book is just more grist for the mill. YOU may think the books are enough, but obviously David Handler didn't, or he would have not sold the rights. Try not to forget that...it's not as if they stole ASOUE from him. And finally, try to reserve judgement until you actually have something substantial to complain about. There is a chance that the movie and games could be good. Obviously they will be different-- anyone who insists that material must remain unflinchingly static between mediums is deluded-- but that doesn't mean that it is necessarily bad.

Yeah, I know. I try to keep an open mind about the movie and games. The movie actually might be awesome, they seem to be getting better with book-to-movie conversions (except for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).
The game I'm still iffy on, but if the company develops a formula to read my mind and transfer all of what I think the game should be like onto paper and from there into electronic data, then it'll be awesome.
*begin dream sequence* Ah, the possibilities...
***
Count Olaf: HYPER GO-GO ROBOT CHERRY BLOSSOM ATTACK *makes the background go all speed-line-ey and summons a giant robot to beat up on his opponent, who in this case is Violet*
Violet: KUSOOOOO! *retaliates by taking out gear-shaped boomerangs and shooting fireballs out of an electric guitar*
*Violet wins. Her victory screen reads "Violet: I will never mistake "Lolicom" as Japanese for "Rolling computer" ever again!"*
***
...well...maybe not.

How cool would Lemony Snicket happy meals be?? I remember the great happy meal tie ins that came with the Nightmare Before Christmas...I still have all the watches, although the batteries are dead. I'm really showing my age there, aren't I? More recently, the Sega video game happy meals were great. And the stuffed Muppets figures! I hope there is a fast food tie in, now that you brought it up.
