I wanted the Cat in the Hat pewter/silver things you got at Burger King so badly, even though I adam*antly refused to go see the movie because it was an absolute trainwreck. I just hope they do something classy like that. I would hate to get some horrible, really really bad McDonalds playsets or something.
*This asterisk put here because every time I spell that word on the boards, it turns it into adAtly.

I would not want to be one of the marketing people involved with Lemony Snicket. The very nature of the license leads to unintentional humor unless the products are of the absolute highest quality.
Example: to be in character, you'd really have to call them "Unfortunate Meals" or something, rather than "Happy Meals". Since the food you'll be eating is a McDonald's burger, most people would take that name at face value.
Or creating a bunch of ads saying "Please don't play this game" or "Avoid this movie", which would be appropriate, but also fodder for the critics if the film and/or games are actually awful.
I rarely feel sorry for anyone in marketing, but they have a tight rope to walk on this property.

a not-so-recent interview of Daniel Handler on some radio station was an interesting hear, because he was talking about the release of THE HOSTILE HOSPITAL. he said that he found the ideas of toys and all this odd merchandising for the series preposterous, but softened to the idea of the things they planned to do. He mentioned that he had a quick though about happy meanls himself and always imagined they would be called "Unhappy Meals" and would contain (as a joke, of course, not for real) like, mad cow burgers and things like that. the idea was pretty funny.
Anyway, I find that there is nothing worse than McDonald's playsets. those things are treacherous and terrible, not to mention cheap and obvious ugly cheap plastic. quite sad.lol
Anyway, Im quite excited about a video game, and I cant wait for the movie, because I know its all in good hands. I dont tend to worry about thsi stuff, because I know that if it all does come crashing down and becomes relaly dumb, Ill live and its not the end of the world. besides, I probably ownt buy the game. I will end up jsut renting it and beating it in 2 days or less (*cough cough* Harry *wheez* Potter games *cough cough*).
