What do you think about the girl from Wales meeting someone off of the net and getting Raped? I mean the man deserves to get banned from the net and his mobile, but it would be wrong to enforce a law saying we couldn't use phones or PC's, especially when we aren't dumb-ass idiots. I mean anyone dumb enough to meet someone from the net deserves to get raped. And just because of one girl we shouldn't have to suffer. What do you think?

Not everyone on the net is a 40 year old lonley man who wants to rape little childern. Sometimes meeting someone on the net is ok. My uncle met his wife and they're in love and very happy. But yeah you shouldn't expect to met a respectable guy on some seedy internet chatroom. And if you do meet someone pick a nice spot in daylight with lots of people, it's just common sense.
I didn't hear about those laws. is it just for England? I don't think you can make a law saying people can talk on cell phones or sue computers. Those things are needed for work.

It was on telly, so yeah, it's probably just England, I don't go in chatrooms anyway, do you?

No one deserves to get raped. NO ONE. It's common sense not to trust things you see on the web. But NO ONE deserves to get raped. You are such a little Prat.

Nope, mostly creeps are in chatrooms. I would however meet poeple I met on message boards. In fact if all goes well I'll be meeting a group of people in Chicago this summer.
And I agree with Pinstripe. No one deserves rape. No one should have to go through that.

It's not the same. I mean you actually have to commit to a message board to a certain degree. And no one on a message board like this is going to agree to meet you without really knowing you.

But the concept is the same--talking to people you don't know, can't see.

You can't post 800 times with someone and not know them abit. You get to know poeple over time. And talking to people you don't know? You talk to poeple you don't know in real life all the time, but after spending time with them you know them.

What if you need to use a phone to call your parents and tell them the guy you just met on the internet is really an 80 year old ex con?
I think meeting someone on a message board is safer than in a chatroom.. it's obviously not without risk, theres lots of risk, but I think it's less on a board. And though it's not the same people you meet everyday are jerks too, you have to be careful no matter what. It's stupid to think oh I met this person on the net, evey word they say must be a lie and I can't ever trust them! Why would you get online in the first place then?
I know a few people online, I would put my full faith in. because not everyone is some pyscho killer out to get me, their just people.
My doesn't really moderate my online time. He's met people online in person and thier pretty nice guys I guess. So he lets me talk to people too.

I know Swans, I was joking too.
I'm not so bitter.. normally I'm super bitter. I said in my post that it still wasn't safe just a bit safer.. because on a message board there are tons of people, you don't just see them once in a chat room, you see them as long as their on the board. If they thought something was wrong with someone you were chatting with or that they were trouble they could tell you. Of course maybe the creep will pm you, or nobody would notice, but it's still a bit safer. Not risk free, becaue nothing is. Walking outside your house isn't 100% safe. Staying inside isn't 100% safe.

True. But they wouldn't be able to do anything about it unless you posted you address on the board for some stupid reason.

Pedophiles disgust me. I mean how can you do that to a little kid?
And as for the chat thing... How often do these things happen?
