Thought of posting this after spending some time with Vanja, discussing about the possibility of a new Unfortunate Events videogame.
As for my wishlist, I would like to see an ASOUE game with better graphics, more missions, more depth and variety, as well as better and more innovative gameplay than the rather rushed 2004 tie-in that I finished rather easily.
What do you guys think?

Disclaimer: I never played the movie tie-in game... or that other little-known game I recall that exists.
It seems to me that there are a couple of ways you could go about this. You could even have a game in which you play Lemony - a point-and-click mystery in which you go about investigating various situations and uncovering a terrible crime in the past. Or a more genre-crossing game featuring all three of the siblings putting their talents to use - Violet would have to search for the components of an invention, put them together, and then use them; Klaus would read old diary excerpts and solve codes and riddles; Sunny would bite stuff and cook the occasional meal.

A point-and-clicker involving Lemony would be great. As for the latter game involving the orphans, I guess they should try a co-op mode similar to Splinter Cell or the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas, where two players can control either Violet or Klaus, and one of them can play as Sunny when needed.

y'know what game i'd wanna see an ASOUE title mimic? Clock Tower. Clocktower is scary. I remember playing on the Super Nintendo emulator, and my heart skipped a beat when I heard the scissors beating and after finding the first body. I couldn't keep playing. But what would it be like? Would we be in Olaf's mansion and Olaf would have giant scissors in his hand?

(though, if you were really set on giving him a weapon, the harpoon gun would be a good substitute.)
i think i would set this game up as sort of an episodic "stalker" horror, maybe with a couple of design cues from the game Ico. each "chapter" would be sort of framed as a new play that olaf's putting on, and there would be other orphans in the house with you (just like there are other orphans in the house with jennifer in clock tower). olaf's planning to rub out some of the orphans in each chapter, so it's the player's job to help those children escape while carrying out the tasks that olaf's set for them. there'd be a couple of stalkers; this is where the troupe would come in, get in your way, chase you around, etc.
i think you could totally do something different, where the game actually has thirteen different locales for the thirteen books, but i feel that might dip more heavily into something like psychological horror, which i feel would be much harder to get right in an ASOUE-inspired game.

As long as I carry the ability to explore The Reptile Room, perhaps even the Maze Garden, I'm in.
