In celebration of their 10th Anniversary, Amazon is having celebrities make special deliveries to customers. Some lucky kid had Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket show up at his house, deliver and sign his books and offer to help him run away. You can view video of the delivery here

So cute! I loved the run away from home bit!
FYI: Dear Amazon.com,
I'd love to have "Firefly" delivered by Nathan Fillion.
Lotsa love, me

That was very funny, and now I am jealous.

That's funny indeed. I wish Handler would deliver things to my house.

What a great idea! Handler has such a great sense of humor.
If it was me, I'd just be embarrassed. Our house is always messy.

I wonder if the kid knew Handler was coming? A lot of times, UPS delivers stuff when people aren't home. I bet they called ahead to make sure they were home when he came.
(I too am very jealous, but I bet he would only deliver to somebody close to San Fransisco where he lives.)

You're probably right - all that airfare and accommodation expense. There are two authors who live fairly close to me - Vicki Grove and June Rae Wood - I wonder if they'd deliver books to me? (Except I've met them already, so no big deal.)

Unfortunately, that will never happen to me. I 'll have to put up with normal deliverymen. Although I live pretty close to Eoin Colfer...

Hmm. I don't seem to be able to see the video. *sigh* I'm still jealous, though.

That was extremely amusing. The kid didn't seem too happy to have Daniel Handler in his home, though. What kind of person isn't excited when a famous author comes to their home and wraps them in caution tape?

That video is great, indeed. I liked the bit where Handler interrogated the boy about the scrape on his sibling's nose. The kid seemed somewhat overwhelmed.
I think that if Handler came to my house, I'd faint.

If it happened to me, I'd probably be vaguely embarrassed. I'm not good on camera, or with people I don't know.

Same here, actually. I'm not really a "people" person. Although I'd still jump at the chance to meet DH. If I knew about it ahead of time, I think I'd be freaking out / panicking. It would be much better as a complete surprise, so I wouldn't have time to worry about it. Only then I'd be mad that nobody consulted me first...

Who is that lucky kid?? If he is a Lemony Fan, I wonder if he comes here?
About this "Special Deliveris" Amazon program, I watched some of the others and they all are trying to get support for certain charities. There was no charity associated with Daniel Handler. I wonder why?
