[glow=red,2,300]Here's your chance to collaborate on a story with Lemony Snicket![/glow]
I just received my copy of "Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs. . ." It has a thrilling feature that I thought you'd all be interested in. You've probably noticed that part of the title includes the words, "and One Other Story We Couldn't Quite Finish, So Maybe You Could Help Us Out."
On the inside of the dust cover is an unfinished story by Lemony Snicket[/b} which purchasers of the book are asked to finish and send in. The winning entry will be published in a future book. The author will also receive some valuable, a word which here means strange, prizes. One of the prizes is a complete set of autographed ASoUE books. That's the valuable prize. The strange prizes are "eleven pounds of chocolate, a Venus flytrap, six hundred tiny glass bottles, and a large bag of dirt from Winnipeg."
Those 667 Members who aren't sure whether the book is worth the price, may consider it worthy to have a chance to win such thrilling prizes, especially if you happen to have some writing talent.
As an added note, the back of the cover was either written by Snicket or by someone who is skilled at imitating his style:
"The stories in this book are not all about creatures that smell like rotting fish and kerosene, nor are they all about men and women who relish the taste of carrion slug, fruitbat, and mole. There are nice stories too, stories about the closest soccer game in the history of Champina, and about a man who, like any sane father, protects his family from dangerous splinters, renegade monks, and sticks that look kind of like snakes."
Extra added bonus:
"The proceeds from this book will support 826NYC, a non-profit tutoring center in New York that helps students ages six to eighteen develop their writing skills through free workshops, publishing projects, and one-on-one tutoring."
