Since the business card which appeared at the end of The Beatrice Letters was not torn in half, I assume you did finally meet up with your niece. I realise you will not wish to give away too many details of that meeting, but I have to ask; did it go well? (I've been worried about the two of you, and I hope very much that you are no longer quite so alone in the world. Or at least that you're now alone together.)

Question: In spite of our wicked world, Mr. Snicket, what are the most noble deeds you have done following the Baudelaires' departure from the island?

May I just say something to you guys? Asking him stuff he intentionally left ambiguous is a waste of a question. It's kind of obvious that he left some things that aren't meant to be known--what happened to Hector, was it Quigley or Duncan, etc.

Dear Mr. Handler and Mr. Snicket,
It is really an honor to write to you. Seriously. Ever since fifth grade, when my teacher, Mrs. Pratt, introduced your book, The Bad Beginning to me, I have been hopelessly and utterly obsessed with your account of the Baudelaire orphans and V.F.D. When I moved to Wisconsin, I learned that my two best friends were as enamored with your books as I was and so, it began--the six hour phone calls and the decoding of Dante's Inferno, and movies like the Cabinet of Caligari...and in the end, how little we learned! But that was the fun of it, actually. It fueled more late-night talks on the phone, more laughs and library visits and sleepovers dedicated to decoding the mystery of V.F.D.
And then we did, of course, get older. And we stopped speaking, for various reasons. And I acquired a new set of friends...Yet I still read your books, loving the way they reminded me of my childhood. Of Friday evenings in South Carolina where I used to live. Of reading and looking out the window at the sun-drenched trees. And of dining at a certain Italian restaurant, having brought one of your books along to read while the waiter served us our meals.
Now almost sixteen and a going-to-be-junior in high school, I have come to realize that what I love most about your writing is that you seem to involve readers. Your works have been a great inspiration for me, the young aspiring writer...and I thank you for that.
Now, as I have bored you, undoubtedly, with my reminicence and my rantings and my randomness, I will end this with my question--
What unfortunate events have caused Mr. Snicket to feel as though he must avoid the eye of a camera?
Thank you! L.S.R. (thistledown)
