...when the books are finished? I assume the forums are going to remain open, as some people never actually post in the ASOUE section, but what will happen to the section itself on the grounds that Snicket tied everything up and there's nothing left to discuss?

Tch. People never grow tired of character polls and stuff.
Also, I highly doubt that Snicket's going to tie everything up. There are going to be a lot of things left open-ended, I think. Plus, those sections are historical. Even if nobody posted there anymore, they'd be their own archive, a history of 667's aSoUE speculation - and people can still be fans of something and discuss over it even when all is said and done.
'Course, in the end, while I am one of the BBooks moderators and that's what I'd like, in the end it comes down to what Tragedy wants to do.

I think we'll still have some things to discuss--Snicket won't tie up quite everything. At most, we'll settle on some conclusions that no one will want to challenge anymore after a while. And new people will eventually discover the books and want to discuss them, as well, or at least look at old discussions.
Like Dante, I think the books section should be left intact as an archive of discussions, even if no one has anything to say anymore.

We can't just close it down. Maybe the ammount of boards will be reduced, but there will be SOMETHING left, for speculation and that sort of thing.

667 is such a great board in its time. It will never close down. Sure, the books will be over, but heck, this place is so great it's like riding a bke with no hands. You can still have something but not the main thing. Get it?

Surely ASOUE isn't so shallow that once the plot is revealed we can't discuss it?
Actually, I think once it's down to literary criticism, comparing with other books, looking for influences and discussing favourite passages without any speculation it might be quite mature and fun.
