Introduction: This weekly column has been started by me as an attempt to get the real 667 news into The 667er, as opposed to just opinionated columns. In these columns, I shall be writing and presenting real news items, and I’ll try my best not to let my opinion get involved. There’ll be a news item from each active board/forum. Well, I should get started now.
Antagonistic Affairs NEWSLINE
Alarming Announcements: The Member Of the Month for April was announced this week. The winner was Sora, one who many think greatly deserves the award, especially after his excellent administration of the 667 Apprentice. Member Lauren says “Well done Sora! You seriously deserve this.”, and Deanna agrees, saying “Congratulations! You deserve it.” Congratulations, Sora!
Foreboding Feedback:This week, the most active thread in FFeedback has been Pig’s ‘New Rule’ thread, one which supports the idea of a rule against the plagiarizing of member’s sigs, avatars and usernames. Pig, who made the proposition, is very worried about situations in which member’s profiles are copied. He simply had this to say: “ripping-do not do it.” Many agreed with the idea, including mods Dante and Antenora. Eminent g-mod swans did her best to resolve the situation, calmly explaining to Pig what he should do. The discussion has ended for now, with Pig PMing Tragedy, the admin, about this problem, and his proposed method of dealing with it.
Gruesome Greetings:Popular member, and former columnist for The 667er Sixteen has returned, under the name Dodge. Sixteen has left and returned again before, but this time, he says he’s hopefully here to stay. Many came to welcome him back, and he was even offered his old position at The 667er back. The popular ‘Accordian Man’ account has also returned, amid much fanfare. Also, a new member named ‘violetbaud178’ has arrived; many suspect this is a n00bish gag account. Says DD PJ about the person who made the account: “Judging by your current guise, you can't be a very creative person.”
Burdensome Books NEWSLINE
667 Dark Avenue has become one of the first ASOUE forums to get the cover of the 13th, final ASOUE book. It all began in the shoutbox, when member joshspazjosh told us he’d seen the cover in the New York Times. Tension built, and whilst people yelled at Josh to post it, he responded he didn’t have a scanner because he was at the library. He eventually made a thread in The Gloom Looms, saying “Didn't have the time to scan it in. . . it's the Baudelaires, soaked, with the feet of a person in the foreground: one barefoot and one with a dress shoe on. Also, it said "The End" on the cover, so I guess we can assume that that is the actual title.” This hurried description served only to create more tension. BB mod Dante began to show worry in his posts, stating that it’d be a lot of work to fake a cover. While he rushed around adding spoiler tags and the likes, Josh eventually posted it. It was then that the thread exploded and became the 16-page behemoth it is now. See for yourself
Gigi has brought back one of 667’s oldest traditions; namely, that of the countdown for the nest book. With constant updates, this countdown is the most reliable source on 667 for how much longer it will be till The Beatrice Letters and Book the Thirteenth are published. Official Countdown
Aggravating Art NEWSLINE
Utopia’s now-famous Snicket Art Gallery acquired some rivals this week, as Gretchen/Skeleton key started her own gallery. Although they aren’t for everyone, Gretchen’s work has Quentin Blake-y tones, as opposed to Utopia’s computer art. It seems to be taking off rather well.
The Snicket Art Gallery continues to dominate the AArt scene, having grown to 7 pages. With Utopia now branching into e-wedding banners, some people have decided to get e-married just to have banners done by her.
Another member, thedoctororwell, has started a gallery thread with works by a friend. Although it still remains to be seen whether it can compare with the Snicket Art Gallery, the work has acquired quite a few admirers.
Fearsome Fiction NEWSLINE
Skeleton Key’s domination of Fearsome Fiction continues. Her latest story, Bloody Feathers, has been widely acclaimed. Member Alice went so far as to say: “Key, you're the best thing happening to FF right now.” Such quotes only prove how tight Gretchen’s grip on FF has become. Her stories are everywhere, and none have received bad reviews. The only other stories are twistedbrain’s The Tears Of Love, which has also proved to be very popular, and Phoenix’s Making Sense Of These Blurred Feelings, as well as Alice’s well-recieved Phantom. Despite these other stories, Gretchen manages to remain the reigning queen of FF, having ousted Dupin from his long-time position as king; an ouster which 667 seems content with.
Chaotic Creativity NEWSLINE
PChar has returned to Chaotic Creativity, with chaotic results. The return of PChar to the CC fic stage has been prompted by the actions of members like Pandora. This return has not been very popular with some; Dupin if among those who don’t like the coupling. PJ has been incensed by this retrieval of what appears to be his least favourite 667 ship. Besides the PChar stories, PJ’s new story, Irony, has been received well by the public, as has SetnicK’s Dagger of the Mind.
Menacing Miscellaneous NEWSLINE
Klaus19’s threads continue to irritate members. However, she has pledged that no matter how much 667 hates her, she will never leave. She even started a poll about it. Despite the most popular response being ‘yes you should go somewhere and die’, she says “no mater what the outcome I'm staying(unless I get baned)” Her ‘really cool member revolution’ thread, which complained about really cool member bashing and other topics, has been deleted, which has aggravated her even more. Erik, one person who has been patient and accepting with her, recently told her “You're only hurting yourself even more”, and it appears that even people who were once her allies are starting to get annoyed. This reporter expects the Klaus19 controversy to go on for much, much longer, since both Klaus19 and her denouncers are being equally stubborn.

AICN Mentions 667 - January 2004
I chose this as my first memory, as it was the first time 667 was highlighted in a national forum. Ain't It Cool News is not the monster it was a few short years ago, but it should be noted that not only were we brought into the spotlight, but a piece of "fan art" from a member of our forum was brilliant enough to be considered the real deal.
Bravo.

The matter of Pig proves ever more complicated. It seems there may be as many as four separate entities involved with that account and other accounts used by whoever was doing the spamming--Les Paul, Eggman, a "copycat" Pig, and possibly someone named Greg. The fact that they have each apparently had multiple accounts furthers the confusion. I'm sure it's all most fascinatingly complicated, but I refuse to fuel Les Paul's swollen juvenile ego by trying to figure things out, thus devoting more column space to him. I will say, however, that Eggman seems reasonably sane.
It's kind of appropriate that on the week of my thirteenth column(technically, slightly less than a week before this will be published, but I can't help that), the alleged cover of book 13 is released in a blurry, pixellated form. Curious that HarperCollins should let it slip in the New York Times, really. I wondered if this cover were a hoax--in which case Josh would be chased off the forum before you can say "Moist Von Lipwig"-- but if it is, Josh most likely did not fake it, as he seems sensible enough. I wondered if the New York Times did, which would mean that their book review guy is an even less accurate journalist than myself. But the cover has been confirmed, and it appears that any fakery is on the part of various publishing companies, which I suppose is quite all right. Anyway, that cover's rather nice.
Our newbies continue to follow confusing trends. We get more of those people who show up and then delete themselves, sometimes with a photo depicting spontaneous combustion in their final incoherent post. Someone else, apparently Eggman, stole Dupin's entire profile. This one attracted the attention of Klaus19 a day later, and sparked off a number of imitators and variations. It's perhaps rather sad that a member like Klaus19 should start such a widespread trend, or at least popularize it. And Pig suggested a rule against profile-copying, as his profile was being copied by the other(and possibly original) Pig--about which I'll say no more, as I said I wouldn't give Pig that much attention.
Klaus19 made a thread seemingly advertising a hit-man service. I doubt she actually employed hired killers, but for all I know she actually thought she did, or could. I cannot fathom the minds of people like her, as one cannot comprehend what hardly even exists. Whether or not Klaus19 really believed her own nonsense, her thread was apparently the subject of many complaints. For Snicket's second act of moderation was to lock it, and warn Klaus19. I suppose the thread was promoting illegal activities, but everyone(with the entirely possible exception of Klaus19) seemed to take the whole thing as a joke.
A certain amount of confusion has arisen over e-marriages. JTB married Twistedbrain(after, I recall, several unsuccessful attempts to marry whoever happened to look appealing at the time), but someone named Jacktripper came from nowhere and proposed to Twistedbrain as well. I note the similarity of that name to Jack the Ripper, mostly just because I can. Also, Betsy proposed recently to Descartes, a fairly intelligent relative newbie who seems understandably shy about getting married so early. Perhaps his reluctance on the matter of marrying Betsy, at any rate, has to do with the fact that she's clearly labeled a possession of BSam's. (I understand that this possessive name-exchange between these two derives from a South Seas Island marriage tradition, which originally also involved stone knives and the juice of a certain fruit. As is the case with many things in life, the online version of this ceremony is far less painful.)
Controversy over really cool member bashing continues, though all of it seems to be directed at Klaus19 right now--she's making a fuss about what a lurker (that's what that person calls themself, anyway) said in the Saybox. Apparently, she is also sending out a chain letter trying to stop really cool member-bashing, addressing it first to Triangle Eyes. Which is an understandable choice, although it turns out Triangle Eyes hates her just as much as everyone else. Even JTB is getting in on the Klaus19-bashing, although perhaps that's not surprising given his tendency to agree with whoever shouts the loudest or has the most karma. And so forth. I really need more interesting events to write about. really cool member-bashing just isn't what it used to be, or perhaps writing anonymous columns about it isn't what it used to be. I do wonder what goes on in the moderators' secret board, though. Its post count increases rather fast these days, and I'm sure it's all quite fascinating. They may even be talking about me!
I will conclude with an immortal quote from BSam:
efsfddfi usually take a handful of mfdennbs abnd stuffhtheb siiiisndnn n
thgtitgi alwaasyw nmayhbeees bettetr
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Interview Of The Week.[/u]
Linda: Welcome to this week's member interview, Edwin!
Edwin: Yay!
Linda: Now, your real name is Edwin, right? What about Okli? Where did you get that name?
Edwin: Yes my real name is Edwin. One day I thought to actually be recognized I should have a shorter name so I just came up with Okli. It has no meaning at all.
Linda: Oh, ok. Well, what are a few of your interests? What do you like to do outside of 667?
Edwin: Although people thinking that I don't like it I do mostly Sports because I find them quite fun sometimes.
Linda: How would you describe your personality? Do you think you're pretty easy to get along with?
Edwin: Off the internet I am easy to get along with, but when people get on my nerves I don't act very kind. Some people find it hard to get along with me because I don't make sense most of the time. It's a problem when getting the most popular people to become friends with me, I think.
Linda: What about the events you've organized at 667? I understand you've done the graphic battles in Aggravating Art, as well as the 667X contest and "I'm a 667er, get me out here" which didn't exactly work. Why do you think that is? Do you like to organize events offline?
Edwin: The graphic battle has been going a bit unpopular lately because people have been trying to get away from it. I only made it because Snicket89 opened the second one, but never really started it. So I was getting fed up and made a new thread. It was probably my first new thread. 667X was made and didn't start because of lack of interest, though I did put the first set of questions on the website and they are still there. I do like organizing events offline because I think I knew people in my old school quite well and I could tap into what they wanted to happen. Usually my events are taken over by other people in the end.
Linda: What types of threads are you interested in at 667? Do you prefer spontaneous ones, or thoughtful ones?
Edwin: I like to post on spontaneous threads. I find them more interesting for some odd reason. It's probably just me.
Linda: I know you sort of have a stigma as a member that's not very well liked. Do you think you deserve that stigma? Do you wish you were a popular member, or are you content the way you are?
Edwin: I don't think I deserve it the way it is given to me. I think I will become a popular member throughout time, but my personality will take some serious sorting out. At the moment I think I'm nearly at the edge of a rickety bridge. It seems silly that I think I can change my personality, but it has happened before and not in a good way.
Linda: Do you find the 667ers to be good people, for the most part?
Edwin: I think I do. They are - most of them - good people and I would probably get along with them if there wasn't the other people that I didn't get along with looking at the same thread. I think everyone has different opinions.
Linda: Well, the interview's about to draw to a close. Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Edwin: No not really.
Linda: Oh, come on; I'm sure there's something.
Edwin: Nope. I can't think of anything.
Linda: Seriously?
Edwin: As serious as serious can be.
Linda: Ok, then. Thanks for the interview, Edwin.

Tick tock.
Every clock’s a countdown.
Tick tock.
Hours minutes seconds gone.
Tick tock.
Even clocks run out of time,
Even men run out of time,
All the world runs out of time,
Tick tock.
As the end draws near there’s just a
Tick tock.
We divide time endlessly,
Cutting life in smaller fractions
While those fractions pass us by,
Tick tock.
Running without stopping
Tick tock.
A clock breaks in the end;
A man dies in the end;
The world rots in the end;
Tick tock.
As we’re buried by sand,
As we’re stifled by words,
What is left to live for when there’s just a
Tick tock.
We live for the time left.
Tick tock.
We live for the lives left.
Tick tock.

this week contained a A visit from the hedgehog loony. thread, which was nice.Ashley was so cool and my pet I think...
Then Charlotte points out that Hey look, Neggie's online, and everyone was happy again, I wonder who will come back for a brief visit next...
Also, swans seems to be back with a rather falsely pumped up post count, but as there is no specific thread I can find about that I’ll just keep it as an aside after the previous two threads.
And now it's time for BSams Love Asylum.
I fell in love once...
A classic tale of unrequited love, BETSY wants to marry Descartes, but Descartes seems to have run off. If you're out there, then marry her, she'll make you happy and stuff...
Trust me.
Dr Who
Seriously, this show is screening in the UK at the moment and it's usually up for tormenting not long after each episode, more people should be watching this fabulous show and posting in this thread, THE GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE was possibly one of the best pieces of TV all year, definitely better than all the rubbish coming from America.
Thread of the week
Hallelujah
I don't know if I’ve read the story but the PChar is a wonderful ship and this thread is worthy of thread of the week for renewing interest in such a ship.
Love me

Ville Mori Current Events
My newsboy friend, Inkblot, suggested that I write an article about Ville Mori and publish it in...Well, what do you call this little town of yours? Ville Fuscos. I agreed, seeing as you probably don't get interesting headlines such as "Suitor Falls Into Machine At Factory; Resurfaces As Smog Spirit"
In today's news, concierge Shaft (Formerly Corey) decided that the name Corey wasn't all it was made out to be, and changed his name back to his given name, Shaft.
In a similar news story, Shaft was captured and hypnotized by one of the guests, Aali Crag. He is now seen biting guests with his (unfortunately sharp) fangs. Denizens have yet to discover his control words. It has been speculated, undoubtedly due to Shaft's history of villainy, that Shaft was hypnotized to do something different, and that he is biting guests under his own willpower. Aali responded with, "Are you questioning my abilities?" Another thing that remains unknown: Is Aali a boy or a girl? It's quite hard to tell, and nobody, as of yet, has the nerve to ask him/her/it.
Buq, the manager of said establishment (Hotel Pestis) is in a bit of a magical bind, as he turns into a corpse (A badly groomed corpse, I might add.) when he's lonely, which is quite often. The same thing is happening to Belle, the owner of a storage warehouse she calls a "peaceful library", and Turpentina, Inheritor of all Factories, is slowly developing this condition. The most experienced doctor I could afford to talk to (Dr. Lunatic Lye) says this: "They need to start a family, yes. Bug is a widower, Belle is a widow, Turpentina is an orphan! Put two and two together. I keep all my experiments together in the cellar so that they do not have this problem!"
Smog spirit Turbine spotted a swimming pool full of blood on his midnight flight last night. I immediately investigated said swimming pool. It turned out to be a giant puddle of pasta sauce. Once I find out why it's there, I promise that I will put the explanation in my article.
Loneliness builds character in its first few weeks, then loses all of it's energy and motivation to continue construction, and instead takes a job in the demolition industry.
My deepest sympathies,
Pitia
