What happened since last 667er? You might not remember this, but the last one was on March 4th. The "big" things happening were Robert's fake suicide and my lame attempt at reviving Weird Ships Week, both of which could be classified as horrible stunts at trying to make 667 interesting.
It's not. It's really not.
The posting of hentai, though, if I do say so myself, was rather awesome. Let me clarify that I didn't exactly do it because I was de-modded, but my de-modation provided an excuse so it didn't seem like a crazy random hentai-posting spree.
6/6/07 passed, and 667's anniversary is in a few weeks. Tragedy has been making very noble attempts at reviving 667. Linda has been nominated and backed by a few 667ers, and it looks like she's going to be the one running the anniversary games. Yay, Linda!
People have been working diligently on Tragedy's Otiose Objectives. I guess they're not really otiose, then. Appreciation threads have been made, and there's a new not-me ghost account named alittlebottleofbeer. Speaking of which, I do love Sam.
This summer, is there any hope for 667? We have our Bohemian friend, Alice, getting more computer access, but she is, unfortunately, tied down to a nine to five job. Conspicuously absent is Ila, who I guess abandoned us all. Popular opinion* holds that 667 is “bori” on a scale of 1 to boring, but there's hope that it will improve this summer. I, for one, hopes it gets down to be a “bor.”
*Popular opinion is represented by Shruti.

So, I guess this is The 667er's comeback edition then. And already Akbar’s begging for articles. Members of 667, support your newspaper; write an article and save yourselves from having to read a completely nonsensical rant written by A.
That’s your warning.
So, 667, my old friend I’ve surely missed you. It’s been some time since I actively posted. I’ve almost become what I once despised, a lurker. *GASP*
So I can hardly rant about anything 667 related. Oh, I do want to give a shout out to Ravioli, as I got some love from whoever they are in a thread I don’t remember ever making. And love is good, especially when you’re receiving it.
Oh, yeah, another good thing is people writing stuff again. PJ and Alice have some stuff and apparently there’s plan for a collaboration story so yzay.
In other news I have exams at the moment, they’re always fun to rant about, except they really weren’t all that bad. I guess I’m just sort of used to them now. Except my bladder still has trouble coping with not peeing for three hours. I could go on about how I have the bladder of a 90 year old and my hourly toilet runs but that’s totally unexciting.
Anywho, I have my last exam tomorrow and then I’m going to get my hair cut, which is awesome, and there will be photos following shortly after; guaranteed.
Let’s rant about something else. Well, I can’t seem to find much, life is so un-rantable right now, except boys. Boys are always rantable. Unless you understand them and there is no way you can possibly do that. Hmm, gah, *confusion* I told myself to just drop it during exams, but it’s not easy to concentrate when you get a message and it’s all ‘hi hun, how was your chem exam? Hope you had a good day! Can you give me a buzz?’ And you’re all what, where is this coming from? You haven’t spoken to me properly in a week and a half and then we left it as a one time hook up. Gah.
This should totally be an advice column, except instead of you writing in and I’ll give you advice, you should write in giving me advice. Yes, that’s what this article is, for sure.
I’ve been doing handstands all day; when I study I get bored and have handstand breaks; I rock at them during exam time. That’s not what I was about to say, I think the blood rushing to my head so much has made me extremely hyperactive, which is fun and amusing to onlookers. Maybe it’s the large amount of sugar I’ve consumed today. Either way I can tell I’m not going to get much sleep tonight. Maybe I’ll start writing up that cheat sheet for tomorrow morning’s exam.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.

Top Ten Reasons to Remain a 667er Now That ASOUE is Over
10. Your birthday thread: Because when the rest of the world forgets, 667 will remember your birthday, and you'll likely get a splendid e-cake that you cannot eat, and upon which you may break your teeth when attempting to chew the monitor.
9. There's always that chance Mr. Snicket will write another novel or series: If Mr. Snicket did write more books and you had left simply because ASOUE was over, it would be rather humiliating to return only with the release of new material. Mmm, yes, we do realize these things.
8. ...Or the second movie will be released: Just kidding. The first movie was a timeless classic that obviously cannot be topped. Well, at least Violet wore a nice dress, and Klaus, an equally nice sweater.
7. really cool member battles: N00bs in general are rather amusing people, and they can be found at any internet message board. However, at a site crawling with intellectuals (or people who would like to be), really cool member battles are brilliant. With members like J., Robert, and BSam, 667 is the greatest really cool member battlefield of all.
6. All those fanfics with thousands of chapters: This columnist admits to not having read them, but they do look interesting. If boredom strikes, they will provide you with something nice to do. And, to all you authors of those fics, good on you; that takes commitment.
5. Wit and sarcasm: 667 is the birthplace--or, rather, showcase--of some of the wisest minds of our time. Mentioning a few specifically is not even worth it, for the list would likely be longer than this article.
4. You still want to be a moderator: Admit it. You know it's true.
3. 667's Fifth Anniversary: Here's to you, Tragedy, for creating a site that has lasted five years. The celebration for the upcoming anniversary is being planned, and if you care about 667 even slightly, it is something you cannot afford to miss.
2. Look, Akbar's back!: And so is The 667er. Thus, a lovely chance to revive our dear 667 Dark Avenue. The 667er is a nice thing to look forward to on (*insert time zone here*) Sunday mornings, isn't it?
1. Where else can you find a drunken and unfailingly witty Australian man, prepared at any moment to make every conversation brilliant?

667 has hit a bit of a slump lately. We all complain about it, but there hasn't been anything major done about it.
A couple of months ago, Linda posted a thread with a poll asking if anyone would be interested in another big competition like 667 Big Brother or The 667 Factor. I took part in the latter last year and really found it enjoyable. I told this to Linda but the idea seemed to pass by for a while. Then, at the beginning of April, I decided to get The 667 Factor up and running for its third year. I got in contact with Linda and Dupin (previous winner and organiser, respectively). They both liked the plan. We had three judges and graphics made by Linda -- thanks again! -- so all we needed were contestants.
I don't know what went wrong. I had intended to get twelve contestants to proceed to the second round. There were even three different categories available to apply for. It might have been because of the exams at the time or maybe people just weren't bothered. But we struggled to get nine competitors. Those were Klaus19, Tigerclaw, Amanda, Jemima, Orwell, Libitina, Sora, Dismay and Cybermystery.
Already having gone way over the deadline for applications, we started Round Two. This was originally where three contestants were meant to be eliminated - one from each of the newly grouped teams - but since we only had nine to begin with it was considered to be a fine-tuning round. Contestants asked their mentors for advice and prepared for the public voting.
And then it truly went down the drain. The "live rounds" started on the 6th of May, weeks after they were supposed to. The contestants were given the theme of "Summer" to draw, write or sing about. The theme was to be taken lightly and all involved did really well with their submissions. It was left up to the general members of 667 to decide who stayed and who left. Unfortunately, this is where we were let down the most. Two weeks after the submissions had been entered, there was a grand total of two votes in my inbox. Judges and contestants alike tried to raise awareness of the competition to the forum. None of us wanted to give up.
Three weeks after the submissions Linda came up with a plan. Using her connections in other Proboards forums, she found people outside 667 to vote in The 667 Factor. This was a great idea but, unfortunately, one of the forum's mods told Linda that she was breaking a rule and the appeal had to be taken down. Luckily, there had been three more votes in that time.
So now, over a month since we expected to start, we have five votes in total. And this is where you, the reader, come in. Please visit the thread for the competition in Chaotic Creativity. Look at the entries and choose which one you like best. Just send the name of that contestant to me (volunteer16) and maybe we can keep this thing going. A lot of us have invested time and effort to take part. We don't want it to fade away. Hopefully, people will have more time on their hands now. Please help us to keep our competition going by registering your vote. Thank you.
