In your ficverse, do you imagine the characters resembling the way they looked in the movie - even though their personalities might be a little different?
For the most part, I'd say yes. The only exception would be with Jude Law as Lemony Snicket. I think Lemony Snicket and Daniel Handler would both resemble the real life Daniel Handler.
For the Quagmires, I imagine Michael J Fox and Lea Thompson in their roles.
I haven't really thought of what Sunny would look like, as she grows up. She'd probably have blond hair, though.
BTW, what colour hair does Daniel Handler have? Maybe, in the ASOUE Universe, Lemony and Daniel would have slightly different hair colours.

Yay, a new survey thread by Quags! I love these! I imagine Esme being tall (5'8") and slender with a pale complexion. She has black hair and blue eye with a small birth mark halfway between her mouth and chin. I picture Jerome also being very tall (around 6'") with either black or brown hair and green eyes. In most of my earlier fics he has a six-pack, but in my later ones he's kind of chubby. Oh, and in answer to your question, Daniel Handler has brown hair (I think). Check him out in this video (it's one of my favorites): www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dzVXvPJ-Do

I'll be sure to check out the video. I kind of thought Daniel Handler had brown hair, but I wasn't too sure. In that case, I guess Daniel Handler would also have brown hair in the ASOUE Universe - while Lemony Snicket's would be more blond. Also, yeah, I do see Esme as being tall and slender. 5' 8'' is probably about a good height. BTW, I'm sure that Daniel Handler is not really a pessimist in real life. So, in the ASOUE Universe, Daniel Handler would probably also be less pessimistic than Lemony Snicket. I'll have to find out more about Brett Helquist, who also exists in the ASOUE Universe. I might also make him 25 years older, but I'm not yet sure.

It's a great video and definately made me chuckle. Yeah, I'm sure that, in real life, Daniel Handler is a nice person. I read on Wikipedia that he's married and has a young son. I know little to nothing about Brett Helquist, but I do adore his art.

I just finished watching the video. It was awesome! Yeah, Wikipedia didn't say much about Brett Helquist - except that he grew up reading comic books. I'll go through LSTAA, and see if I can find out more on him. Maybe he could be the same age in both "our" world and the ASOUE Universe. Do you think the ASOUE books would also be published in the ASOUE Universe? I really think they would, but Lemony would be taking a very big risk of mentioning the VFD.

I loved the part where Daniel put the telephone inside the drawer and was trying to close it. ;D
Judging by Brett Helquist's self illustrations, he looks to be in his late 20's/early 30's. Let me know if you find anything in LSTAA (I haven't read mine all the way through yet).
I always figured that the ASOUE books would be published in the ASOUE universe. But I think that perhaps Snicket would have waited until the Baudelaires' journey was over before publishing the books.

I saw the video a while ago- "Of course you can't hear me- the phone isn;t attached!" XDDDDDDD 5'8 or 6 feet would be good for Esmé- jut very tall. Her hair, in my opinion, would be naturally black-brown, but would have highlights and get dyed depending on what's "in" and "out", and her eyes would be brown with long eyelashes.
Violet would look kind o like how she did in the movie- though I loves his drawings, I usually don't pictur Violet like that. She'd have black, curly-ish hair, violet eyes (I know her name doesn't have to be based on what she looks like..), and tall-ish.

I love that video. I have always imagined Esme having very long eyelashes and can see her dying her hair a lot. And I've always pictured Violet as being quite tall. I like Sunny with blonde hair. It totally fits with her name.

Hmm, haven't thought of her with blonde hair..always pictured her looking like Violet, bu with hazel eyes and short for her age.
Jerome- short-ish for his age (26, in the low 5 feets), light brown hair and pale blue eyes, not very muscular.

Yeah, I've always pictured Sunny with brown or auburn hair. But I like the idea of her with blonde hair, too. And I like your version of Jerome. The idea of him being short is really sweet.

I'm going to just jump right in, I think BAUDELAIRES--I always pictured all three of the Baudelaire's with very dark brown or black hair, and a very pale complexion. I always thought of Violet as very pretty, with her other two siblings looking a little geeky and thin compared to her I don't know why. I guess I liked the idea in my head of Violet being the one to take after her mother. JEROME & ESME-- I think they're both dark haired, though Jerome's hair IMO would be lighter. I have a lot of trouble thinking of him as chubby, but I love Emma's descriptions so much that I've managed it. In my head Esmé would have black/dark brown hair with blue eyes, very tall and slim, with her husband an inch or two smaller when she's wearing heels (which would be all the time ) I never figured out a face for Jerome--I can't decide between actually handsome or handsome in a geeky way SNICKETS--For some reason I see Lemony and Jacques as incredibly dissimilar, with Jacques as the better looking of the two (even though he was compared to Olaf). I see Kit as kinda pretty when she looks up from her books and takes off her reading glasses. When I think of little!Baetrice I think of her as blonde and thin and tall--a little skinny, but pretty all the same, noticeably different from the Bauds. Meh, more later, maybe

I love your character descriptions, Jen. *pictures Jerome standing barefoot next to Esme in her heels and cracks up* He would look super cute, though. I picture Violet looking like her mother, too.

He's always super cute I can't think of anyone else so I'll just keep quiet, I think :)But I seriously love this thread. (PS. Do you remember that drawing I sent you? I only just realized I made Esmé shorter, with Jerome bending down. Meh.....)

Oh, totally. I still have to add Carmelita and Nero. But I'll get to them eventually. (Of course I remember your E/J drawing! I saved it to my computer, LOL. I didn't even notice that you had made Esme shorter. You could always say that she was sitting, and Jerome was leaning down.)

Carmy and Nero! Of course I'll just do Carmy for now. Even though its fairly early I'm sooo tired and need my sleep CARMY--I see Carmy in the books as a child as a half-pretty, too-tall girl with bright red ringlets and a permenant scowl. But as she grew up I imagine she got a lot prettier (though always stayed very thin, a bit flat-chested, and her height settled about five six or somethinga round that). That's it for now
