There's a lot more about a video game that would be out of Handler's hands, too; probably more people needed in development, and therefore more need for a sure-fire seller. I think a board game is more pertinent to the series, though; it's full of very solid artifacts to be handled, rules to be grasped and learned. It fits thge aesthetic, too. We should start another thread sometime to decide what we'd like in a new ASoUE board game. I disagree, a board game isn't any more pertinent to the series than a video game. In both you can have structure and rules and can have fitting aesthetics. Yes video games may lack the tangibleness of a board game and its pieces but it can create a more immersive experience. A video game to me holds a lot of intrigue. With a video game you could recreate the Baudelaire's entire world. Imagine how fantastic it would be to explore such a vast world, to experience the adventure and terror the Baudelaire's faced. A video game could give us a comprehensive experience into the Snicket world.

There actually was a video game invented, based off the movie and apparently available for a number of devices, Amazon reveals.

I think it's the semi-archaic form of the board game which appeals to me as a medium to represent ASoUE in; video games are hyper-modern, whereas a board game would be something that could've been made even in the Baudelaires' time, or the sort of times that influence their setting. I do see what you're saying, though, and we've thrown around ideas for an ASoUE video game before now; take a look here.

I believe a board game better represents ASoUE. A video game could be interesting.....but it would need to hold a very book-ish element rather than a "movie game." I know some people do enjoy movie games, but they have personally never appealed to me.

I have this!
It was bought, I believe, on the same trip to the US where I got a copy of The Carnivorous Carnival before it was published in the UK.
It's good fun, the little character figures are quite cool but the generic guardian is a little disappointing... but I enjoyed how the gameplay fits the formula of the early books; Count Olaf tries to kill the orphan's new guardian. Simple.
I remember it being difficult to get others to play though, there's a lot of rules to get through which can hinder first time players (if you're a gang of 12 year olds, at least). I might try convince my partner to let me have a game soon...
I also have a (the?) jigsaw, which presumably I brought on the same trip.

I have the first edition book-box. I found it in my closet a month ago and put it up on Ebay. It hasn't sold yet.
I think I might have played it once, but I honestly remember nothing about the game other than it reminding me a bit of Clue.

I got this for Christmas!
My wife surprised me with it. I had no idea it existed and she found it on ebay. We've just played it and although like most games it takes a bit of time to get the hang of it, it was pretty good.
Towards the end it was neck and neck on who might win but ultimately my wife bet me! Was nice that it didn't end up quite so 1 sided
