Lemony's placement in the fading town sounds an awful lot like "We assign them to strangers and scatter them across the globe."
Edit: As to whether that was before the schism - at the time it was written, maybe, but when the dating of the schism was put back in TPP, this meeting would then have taken place after the schism.

Assuming, of course, that "K" is Kit Snicket in the transcript.

Maybe each chapter will be named after a question pertaining to the contents of said chapter. Just a thought.

Possibly, but that leaves us with a lot more than four wrong questions.

Do we know that only four wrong questions will be asked? "All the Wrong Questions" seems a bit more broad than that. Actually, jman's suggestion rather reminded me of Adverbs, in which each chapter is an adverb.

Yes, I would agree. I rather hope the chapters do have names though, it would just make the whole thing more "snickety."

Well that's kind of why I thought he might do that. The whole "All The Wrong Questions" thing struck me as very TUA from the start.

An idea which I am absolutely sure is false, but which is nonetheless interesting to think about: The cover has a statue which many people think resembles a Lachrymose Leech, a lighthouse above waves, and a house on a clifftop. Could the "fading town" be the town of Lake Lachrymose?

I'm pretty certain it'll be told by adult Snicket retrospectively - first person, in other words, but with the usual Snicket flair for lacing the narrative with foreshadowing. Another point that's come up in my thoughts is the following: "Who could that be at this hour?" is a stock question, a line of dramatic dialogue that has broad coverage before this series. (Google the title in quotes and use Advanced Search to leave out articles that mention Snicket, and you'll see what I mean.) That might suggest that the titles of later books will be other stock melodramatic questions, like "Where are you taking us?" or "What are you going to do with us?" The lengthier the better, of course, as the fact that the title is so long is sort of a joke in itself. I agree, when I first heard that title I thought about urban legends and horror short stories, when a character poses the question right before something bad or unexpected happens (I also thought about Martin Scorsese's Who's That Knocking at My Door?, but that may be just me). Exactly the old-literature-rooted cheesiness one would expect to be parodied (or given a dark twist) by Lemony Snicket.

I can't believe I've only just heard about this. I came here as soon as I did. My god, I never thought I'd say the day we saw another asoue-universe series come out.
Hopefully it'll be a recounting of the most intense years of the schism - probably just after Snicket has been declared as dead to the masses and has gone into hiding - although I wouldn't put it past Handler to make it some sort of crazy pastiche of moments throughout his life, like a more focused version of the UA. Then again, short stories about VFD would be pretty awesome, as well, and would go a long way to addressing lots of unsolved mysteries, at least, compared to a more contained, protagonist-focused format of asoue. Then again, the whole point of the End was to not solve all the mysteries out there, so it doesn't seem too likely that we'll be inundated with all the answers we didn't get at the end of asoue...
As long as we get some focus on the downfall of Fernald and Anwhistle Aquatics, I'll be happy.
Scratch that: I can't wait, no matter what we get.

PJ! We already know it's about young Lemony growing up in a fading town as a V.F.D. neophyte! Doesn't mean that some of what you mention won't be included, though. And... it's good to see you back.

I love that all the "old faces" (including myself) are coming back to 667 Dark Avenue! It feels like old times.

Do we know the whole series is about this, or just the first book? The first clues we got suggested that the connection with ASOUE would be very remote, and everything we have seen since then has seemed to make it closer. Certainly, he is aiming for new readers, so filing the gaps in ASOUE won't be his first concern; but it's quite likely we will get some quite specific links.
